I'm fascinated by J's playing. He claims he knows no music theory and that he just picked up the guitar and taught himself when he couldn't find anyone to play in DJ. Other than a few choird shape conventions that he picked up, his playing is unique. I really love listening to him, especially his solo work. If you ever decide to delve deeper into his approach, I'd be very interested.

Just wanted to send along some KUDOS, I'm a new subscriber and I've been trying to tell anyone who'll listen to me to get on your channel. Oh and AWESOME Jazzmaster guitar!!! J's last killler tune! You know he never uses alternate tuning, everything std. Another Dino Jr classic as a suggestion is 'the lung' or 'get me'
@Sealwithwificonnection6 жыл бұрын
Watch the Corners uses the capo in like the 9th fret, though
@jaguarsharkman6 жыл бұрын
He started using alternate tunings now. I know "goin' down" is not standard on the last dino album and if I remember correctly one or two tracks on his last solo album. And he drops the Low E to D on a couple tracks too. and a LOT of songs with capos of course!

Thanks Adrian. I have been waiting for some Dinosaur Jr. ever since I have seen your Jazzmaster. Did you try it through the Fender amp? Also J most likely doesn't think in terms of scales. But he sure does know his way around a fret board. I think he likes to use a Rangefinder treble boost for his solos. His pedal board is always changing. The Cramps and Dinosaur Jr have been big hits lately. Would love to see more Dinosaur Jr. I know the Cure is a little cliche, but I would love to see your take on In Between Days. Keep rocking. Thanks for the help. I actually have the J Mascis signature Squire. Fun to play. Great to learn on. And the bridge doesn't have to be swapped. 😝

@ViaticalTree6 жыл бұрын
Nah man. To really nail the sound you'll want a setup like he uses in the video, but any distortion pedal or amp distortion will get you close enough to play it and sound ok.

Hi Adrian love your choice of song's and guitars, I have 2 questions. I have just bought a original series jazzmaster with 65 vintage pickups I love the guitar but the pups are very bright almost ear piecing at times, you have to roll the tone off, are yours the same ? 2 I also have a 52 reissue, have you had the modern wiring kit done on yours ? Mine is as I bought it and sounds dull and lifeless, to the point I never play it. How about song from under the floorboards by magazine !!
