I have been loving this band since the first time I heard Bug in 1998. With a Tele not trying to cover all the frequencies like a Jazz I can finally hear J's voice in all its naked earnestness. In another way it kinda makes sense, as early Marshalls were based on Fenders, the JTM45 is pretty much a modded Bassman. Also, J uses effects all the time (even his clean tone comes from an overdrive pedal), so the amp probably doesn't matter that much.

*** JOE HARVARD **** Certainly among the finest and one of most outrageously exceptional human beings I’ve ever known to walk this earth. And also as an avid originator, he was the founder and original owner of FORT APACHE Studios - or otherwise known here in this video simply as “the guy”. Damn J! That really bummed me out that you never came to mention “the guy’s” actual name. Whom of which in turn bestowed upon you this singular piece of unrivaled artillery that you have since gone on to carve up numerous monuments with. I can’t say enough wonderful things about the late great Joe Harvard but it really would have been nice to hear you give him some kind of a proper acknowledgement. For me anyway I would have been ecstatic. After all I have seen Dinosaur no less then 30 times. But oh well, I guess that sucks for all the rest of you who didn’t have the privilege of knowing who or what Joe was about on any kind of level. A missed opportunity for sure, but I guess we’ll just have to get over it. At the same time I was kind of over the moon just now finding out that this Telecaster has been and remained the de facto J Mascis numero uno 6-string for lighting up all those Dinosaur records. I was not aware that J actually held this Tele in his very highest regard, and was no doubt a most pleasant surprise. The fact that my dear friend Joe Harvard was this instruments original owner and custodian, who must have not only broke that guitar in just right for a Wizard out of Amhurst, but helped instigate the mojo that is seemingly infused with this guitars chemistry and innate make up. So yeah upon hearing that that you continually still make records with that guitar puts a huge smile on my face and in some weird way kinda makes me proud, as Joe was absolutely one of my very very closest friends and I will honour and celebrate him forever. And on one final note, I basically inherited a large amount of Joe’s possessions, if not most of them. I have a lot of the stuff he archived including a folder with all the inventory of the gear that was at Fort Apache. And I am 98.9% sure I have a sheet with this Telecaster he sold you listed on it. I wish I could put up a screen shot. It would be fun to show you and get your reaction.
