Lovely recording. I've only just been up there on my Wave in July. Nice to see a rider that can paces themselves. Taking a conservative approach on these roads is so much safer and better on gear. It was great to see you also took the scenic detour on your trip South via Lakefield National Park. As pretty as it is, I'm not sure I'll want to get up to the Cape any time soon again. It's gotten so busy and crowded with people that seem to take it as a race. I had some thoughts about maybe doing the old telegraph track (I've done a few sections) at the end of an El Nino dry season. But with so few beautiful stop to explore I'm still not 100% convinced I want to risk breaking my gear over it. it was a bit of an opener to see how many more wrecks happened in that brief time since I've been up there. But I'm also not surprised. I'll have to start looking at new routes I'd could explore. I'm Brisbane based and the main places that interest me now are all in WA, which is crazy far from here. I loved the Pilbara but sadly my partner has 0 interest in going back there again. Anywho, enjoy your video diaries and wishing you plenty more trips out there.

Don’t know QLD especially the trip to the Tip is absolutely beautiful. I am from SA and I am very jealous of you guys having such an amazing place so close. Sensible riding and a bit of luck even on the D rated tracks can avoid damage. Yes it was busy but there are many remote tracks worth exploring. On Cape Melville the Starkle track, the track leading to Usher point and the Palmer river goldfields tracks I had the whole place pretty much to myself meeting very few 4WDs. Give it another try it is an amazing trip

Another good one! The queue for the Jardine ferry can be ridiculous - admittedly peak season last year (late July), but I had to wait for over 2 hours heading south, a guy put his drone up and counted 187 vehicles waiting to cross! I feel Tom may have been better served by fitting a Mitas E07+ or Heidenau K60 Scout instead of the Anakee, although maybe the firing pulses from the DR's single cylinder engine may have had something to do with the poor wear. The Mitas and Heidenau may be pretty horrible as far as tyres go, but they are strong and give decent wear. The 606 has a good reputation for the rear, although pretty awful on the front from what I have heard.
@mongreldogproductions2 жыл бұрын
Tom wanted a big block knobby because of the Tele track. The Annekee was fitted because that was the best tyre for purpose that he had. A longer wearing tyre wouldn’t have given him the traction he was looking for. As you know, tyres are always a compromise. Thanks for watching.
