Hi, Marilyn! 🙋♀️ I understand you feeling a bit down after reading that first book! I live on a beautiful 2.5 acre property and have big gardens and two orchards and grow and preserve a lot of our food. I enjoy our chickens and ducks (eggs) and our pet sheep. Very happy with what I've created here. ❤❤❤ And yet.....!!! Every time I watch the YT channel 'Simple Living Alaska,' one part of me wishes I could be living the wonderful, exhilarating, self-sufficient life they do in the far reaches of breathtaking Alaska. ❤❤❤ But I'm not young like them, I don't have a partner to share the workload, and I actually hate freezing weather. 😂 On another note, the 'Comfort Me with Apples' book by Ruth Reichl sounds great! "Hard work, weird food, and endless curiosity." ❤ I'm definitely going to look for that one! 😊 Also, I do enjoy cozy mysteries, but they need to have an interesting theme and ongoing character development. The premise of the series you mentioned - 'Tension on a Pension' - sounds fun, so I'm going to try it. I've found many indie authors I like quite a bit. ~ Kim

@@WildHeartsandWildflowers hi Kim, it sounds like you have created a perfect life for yourself. I’m an island gal and can’t stand freezing weather or even mildly cold weather. I’m very spoiled. My father was born in Puerto Rico. I was born in Manhattan and I live in Hawaii so when I lived in Minnesota for five years I suffered. In Hawaii, we sacrifice space for warmth. My house and yard are less than 3000 ft.² but as I get older, it provides what I need. A lot of flowers, a full-grown Plumaria tree and hopefully soon a dog living inside. I hope you enjoy comfort me with apples. I’m starting it soon after “murder she fried“. Enjoy your reading week. Aloha friend.

@MarilynMayaMendoza Oh, I hear you on needing to live where it's warm, Marilyn. I was born in hot, dry northern California where summer temperatures are regularly over 110°F, and I've always loved the heat. 😎 I did live in upstate NY for several years in my 20s, and in the heart of China and in Hong Kong (each for a few years), also in my 20s. I learned, in order, that I do *not* like winters full of snow and ice storms (NY), I do *not* appreciate a lack of sunshine and consistently grey skies (NY & China), and I do *not* enjoy constant humidity (HK). 😁 (Though I'm so glad I lived in China & HK for a time - many happy memories. ❤️) At 30, I settled back in northern California very happily, but I still love to travel when I can, and apparently I love *watching* others live (and have adventures) in extreme winter weather - as I snuggle by my fire. ☺️

@MarilynMayaMendoza Your 'space' sounds beautiful and cozy and perfect for you. Home is what we create wherever we are, isn't it? Plumerias are gorgeous!

Post-celebration blues - very relatable! Will keep an eye out for that memoir. Sinead O’Connor was a fascinating person - beautiful, talented and troubled. I imagine her memoir is a tough read. Thanks for sharing Marilyn!

Hi Marilyn. I know exactly that feeling of letdown after reading a great book or having a big celebration and then it being over. Hang in there and thanks for this delightful video. :)

Hi Sonya, I am glad that you understand the letdown of reading book. I think I have experienced more than a few letdowns in November and it’s been hitting me. Thank you for watching. Aloha friend.

Sinead was on SNL in 1992. I remember the outrage that people felt in response. The Boston Globe published their expose in 2002. (I had to look this all up online). Now her protest seems so quaint! Its almost hard to believe there was a time that Americans did not believe or were unaware of the sexual abuse perpetrated by members of the Catholic Clergy. Now we talk about patterns of abuse going back hundreds of years and occurring all over the world.

@@sarah-roadworthy she was banned everywhere after that incident and had to perform live the rest of her career. But she produced many good albums after that. I became interested in her music and listen to her songs more than I did before

It's cool that you saw Prince in a small store doing some shopping. I'm a fan. I saw him a few times in concert. I was a fan of Sinead O'Connor too. Although not to the same level I was of Prince. I never had an experience where I read a book that I really liked and after a period of time, I felt melancholy about it. If you celebrate Thanksgiving, I hope it's a good one

@@stuartgriffin1001 Hi Stuart, I would’ve loved to see Prince in concert. I watched a special on TV promoting purple rain and it was awesome. I loved his music since I saw him perform little red beret on MTV. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family. Aloha friend.
