Hi Julie, I lived in the Twin Cities for five years when I went to college, and it's a great city. My adult children still live there. Positively 4th Street comes from a song where Dylan talks about both the fake people in Greenwich Village, West 4th street in NYC, who criticised Dylan for going electric, and the street you mentioned on Fraternity Row in the U of M. The book is about the time in the Village when Joan Baez and her sister hung out with Mimi's husband and Bob Dylan. I loved Prince's and Dylan's music and am visiting my granddaughter in St. Paul this spring.I hope to read the book soon and will return with more details. I read 'The Wide Sargasso Sea' as a teenager, already loving 'Jane Eyre' - not liking at the time, I'm now in my fifties so I might have enjoyed it more if I had read it later in life. Then again perhaps not, I rarely enjoy different authors taking characters from books and writing a different story, I tend to spend most of the book thinking the original author wouldn't have liked it or that character wouldn't have done/said that.
