I sabotaged my relationship with a partner that loves me a lot because i had an insane amount of unresolved trauma from previous relationships. No matter how much you love someone if you dont have self worth its incredibly difficult for a relationship to be healthy and to last.

I broke up with him because I got tired of us. We were so different in many aspects but we were able to make it work for three years, until of course the continuous stress of making things fit where they didn't took its toll on me. He was such a great guy. All I needed was to say the word and he'd do whatever it'd take to change. But that's what I hated, because he shouldn't have to change himself so much just for a person. I know he said that I shouldn't think about it as a debt or favour but I couldn't help it because I knew that he was suffering. A bit after our breakup, I finally got together with my almost-the-one-that-got-away. Six years we waited for each other, never taking a chance in fear of the things we'd lose. But this time we took a chance and never plan on leaving each other again. This is why I feel so guilty. Because I left a person who was willing to do anything for me. Realistically, it would've never worked because of many factors, but I still can't help but feel all this guilt because in the process of finding my happiness, he lost his and I caused him so much pain.

After a month of the breakup. I’m feeling it, a lot I miss him and I look at old pictures and see how happy we were. He loved me and I ruined it, even though we were not at a good place in our relationship. I feel so bad about breaking up with him.

Josie Rock stay tuned for my next video I talk about exactly this. I too ruined it with someone. Guilt can be a debilitating thing but when someone is meant for you nothing will keep you apart. I strongly believe that. Learn from your mistakes and never give up on yourself.

Thanks so much for posting this! I'm currently going through the same thing and it's very challenging however, something I've learned is that you also need to think of yourself. As much as you care about their wellbeing you also need to care about yours. We can get this through this!

Im so glad I came across this video. You sound like you just got out of my relationship... My god was I manipulated. I agree with what you said. This whole idea of "if you really loved them you would've given them another chance" pisses me off. It completely ignores every boundary a person has. And in us breaking things off and acting out in response to our boundaries being crossed isn't "acting out in return and being just as bad as them", it's SELF RESPECT, it's calling attention to the boundary that has been crossed, THEY CROSSED OUR BOUNDARY FIRST

I’m grateful I found this video. I broke up with my wife after being together for 2 1/2 years (married for almost a year but for the wrong reasons). It was a toxic and abusive relationship. She crossed a line that should’ve never been crossed, multiple times, but I also blame myself for letting it last that long. We broke up 6 months ago but have been living with each other because of certain circumstances which obviously doesn’t help. I tried moving on quickly and enjoy the single life but I now realize I was just masking the pain, confusion, and all other emotions. All that is catching up to me now and I feel regretful, depressed, jealous, etc. But I always try to remind myself why the relationship had to end. Thank you for your story and advice. It helped put more ease on my heart, no matter how temporary that may be. I hope you’re doing much better now and that you have a bright and happy future.

Yep. So difficult to stop ruminating. Doesn't mater what about, seems every thought leads to guilt. I'm 2 months in after breaking up with partner of 23 years. I find it helps by trying to remember something negative about her and the relationship each time I realize I'm ruminating. Your anger energy at the end of the video shows replacing the guilt with something else may help to break the ruminating cycle. Everyone says time heals all... they better be right :)

Mike OR anger and resentment helped me to move on initially but it can be damaging if you sit in those feelings for too long as well. It’s all a process and if you allow yourself some space slowly you’ll start having better days
