THANKS STEPH!! I have created two goals. One, to get TESOL certification completed by July 31st. And two, to save for my sabbatical to travel in 2022. Here’s a pic of my ‘break through’ day. Loved putting my thoughts on paper. It gives me HOPE!! You are my hero!!! Well... I could not figure out how to upload the pictures. 😊

I told my brother the other day that I am moving to another country and he was so negative. Made me sad. Even my 85 yo mom was more supportive than him.

Not everybody gets it right away. That's why we need to be in a community of like-minded people. And then remember that sometimes the people who don't get it at first will be the ones asking you how you did it later. 💗

My cousin keeps trying to discourage me from traveling, but I think he's afraid that if I travel, it suggests a level of success that he hasn't achieved.

Same here. I’m doing this all alone. Ok The first to think like this so it was unfortunate when I didn’t have the support of “yes be the first” “that’s awesome, get after your dream” But it was more like “how you gonna do that(snarky tone)” “what happens when you run out of money(snarky tone)” “why you wonna do that(snarky tone)”. But it’s just them being afraid and angry they don’t have the audacity that we do, to do this. Keep going !!!! I support you!!!!

Hi Stephanie! Thank you so much for this video. I took a sabbatical from work when I had a near breakdown. I lost weight on my already thin frame and my lovely locs that nearly touched my derriere became thin and broke. It gave me the time I needed to stop and think about why I am driving 45 minutes one way, in heavy traffic, wearing my car down, having serious insomnia the night before, spending over 100 weekly on gas, JUST to collect a paycheck. Then, once there in that horrid red, brick building with no windows, I had to deal with the most *potent form of vampirism I have ever experienced.* I knew that there must be more to life than being sucked dry in exchange for money. My Sabbatical gave me something that I needed: Time to Think. I never went back. Now, my life is a bit easier due to the fact that I work from home 100% and my circle of companions is very, very small. The next step for me is leaving the US semi-permanently for a country where I blend in with my melanin. Your videos are helping me so much! I've been binge watching them almost daily. Thank you so much!

I’m moving, my break threw day was last week, because I’m just sick and tired of living in NY. I can’t wait to get out of here, but I was so afraid of moving for so long. I didn’t realize it, but I was making excuses not to move out of fear. I just told my landlord that I’m leaving and I’m filling out my forms to transfer my state certification since I’m a healthcare worker and I’m moving to a new state. I feel very empowered and I’m no longer afraid I’m excited now. I can’t wait to be out of NY and I’m so proud of my journey and how fare I’ve come.

Hi Stephanie, thank you for your videos and sharing your experiences. I’ve been enjoying watching some of your content. In today’s video, there was one key phrase that resonated with me: over 50. I’m on a path, a second chapter if you will, and every so often the fact that I’m now over 50 pops into my head or is buzzing somewhere in the background. Hearing those words and reading your mention of being in community with like-minded persons gave me an additional boost. Blessings to you for what you’re doing and for sharing of yourself.

This video was encouraging and to the point that it was entrancing. I was so interested, but I fell asleep during parts of it - not out of boredom, but because the information was somehow logically relaxing. Then I'd startle awake at the next numbered step. At 66 years old, I finally have a blueprint for combining a career move with personal fulfillment. I will never retire so I might as well enjoy what I do. Thanks, so much.

I also realized that I want to live in many parts of Mexico and I figured a way to do it. From there, I will move to other countries using the same approach to live in different parts of the world. Its so clear now.

Hi Stephanie! I am happy in my current situation--after work. My job is relatively easy, but I don't make the money I want. I want to vacation, but I don't know what that looks like. I'm a homebody that enjoys Asian dramas. Your videos have taught me that I don't want to go to China....maybe Thailand? What is your day to day life like? I just want to watch dramas and eat interesting foods. Should I start with a cruise?
@StephaniePerry3 жыл бұрын
Thailand, Korea or Japan are really good choices. Hopefully the borders will open up to us again soon. Basically eating interesting foods is half my day. 😆 If you want to experience Asia, I don't know if a cruise would be a great fit. You spend most of your time on the boat, not in the country you're visiting. I hope you're working on a plan to see the place you want to see. Also I recommend the Solo Sistas Facebook group: facebook.com/groups/774183773051958

When the money gets low...is there a certain amount that you use as a threshold before deciding to go back to the US (so that you are not stuck in a foreign land unable to get back home).

Honestly to start I would like to start house sitting in the USA and end up experiencing so travel and seeing it this is something that I could do long term. With no husband ever married, no money I would need to build create expand and pick up a new trade or skill this is ok I have always do it alone. I am a caregiver, or customer host I deal with special needs. AND HERE IS THE BIG PART BECAUSE OF ALLERGIES I want to house sit but IS THERE A COMMUNITY WHERE I CAN HOUSESIT, with no BEAUTIUFL FURRY FREND.
