Hey everyone, this video I created in July 2021 but for whatever reason decided to not post it. I rewatched it and thought it does provide some good thoughts & advice that I felt will help you all if deciding to join or not... I will be posting a channel/life update video here shortly! TTYL!

I joined the army while I was lost in my life as well. Even though the army sucks from time to time but it did help me find my way. The best decision ever

Dude I'm seriously considering joining the Coast Guard. I'm a 4th year Political Sciences major but I want to join the military before actually continuing my educational path as I want to go to Law School. Your videos are really helping me take that step forward and make a decision. I'm thinking of doing BM. Great vid! Keep it up!

Don't join the military. If you're dumb enough to waste four years of tuition on a Poly Sci degree, you're too dumb to survive in a military environment. We kind of expect our people to possess a certain level of common sense.

Money in the military goes farther, what I mean is that making $50k in the civilian sector ain’t much. After tax that’s $43k and you still have to pay the bills and put food at the table, so ultimately you’re left with like $2k if you’re lucky. In the military you may make $35k, after tax that’s around $31k but since your most expensive bills are covered by Uncle Sam you can Essentially keep 75% of that $31k and put it into and investment/retirement account. The best way to look at military pay is more so as a compensation package. You get a roof over your head, food in your stomach for free or dirt cheap and on top of that your guaranteed salary. Looking at military pay the way we look at a private sector pay doesn’t make much sense because that would be like comparing apples to oranges. Civilian pay is calculated by hourly wage X hours you’re willing to work, while military pay is a complete package that involves housing + food + base pay + bonuses + special duty pay.

What are your thoughts on a recently turned 39 year old who is just climbing out of the abyss of a bad hand in life, joining CG, as a desperation move to get some traction in a life that otherwise seems to be going nowhere?

If you have the OS rate and are on a ship do you still get BAQ if single? Wasn’t there talk of changing BAQ from a fixed amount to actual rent cost?

Hello Julian, I am 25 years old and planning on joining coast guard later this year after I become more physically fit and study more for the ASVAB. What are some steps I should follow to make the process a lot easier?

@juliansagemiyata how much was your total pay with the housing allowance. Also I want to do what you’re doing I would love to do a podcast or videos talking about what’s going on in life but I do not have the means or time to do that and I am really thinking about the coast guard as an option but I would like to know and also what career you think is better between ME and Public Affairs. Thank you for this channel sir.

Hey man! Listen, I watched the video you made about getting out, and I am in the same situation, I still got to years left in the service, and my parents are sick. I was wondering if you could help me out get some more information on a Military Hardship separation. Thanks a lot!

I am not familiar with separation hardship. I recommend if you are in speaking with chaplain & admin.

I have a question, I tried joining the Marines but failed to join them due to medical issues. Should I try Coast Guard if I got discharged from the Marines? How would I get a waiver for the marines?

Hi Julian! I’m really thinking of applying to OCS and I wanted to know what the chances are of getting into the billet you want ? Do we really get a say in the matter ? I’m really interested in the response billet or getting an aviation spot. Do candidates often get into the response billet for example ? Thanks for all the great content !

The military is not going to give you that "more" that you are looking for. This is part of the reason so many people leave the service in terrible conditions. If you don't know what is going to give you that fulfillment, the military does not care about your well-being and once your time in service is over, you will still be stuck looking for that fulfillment again. There are benefits that you can obtain, but if you don't know what you want to get out of the service when you are going in and understand the sacrifices you will have to make, you will be screwed. If you are depressed and join the military, you are just going to be more depressed. I've seen too many other soldiers fall victim to suicide due to this exact idea you are peddling. This is terrible advice. You pretty much can't use your VA Loan while you are in because you'll be forced to live in on post housing in most instances. You can attempt to do college while enlisted, but it is entirely dependent on your chain of command. You can use your GI Bill once you are done with your time in service or after 3 years. Mental health has been an ongoing problem in the military for decades and it is not getting any better. If you are feeling stuck, joining the military is not going to make things better for you unless you are pretty much homeless.
@militaryjourneymen2 жыл бұрын
I am not telling people who have mental health problems to join the military, I am saying if you don't know what to do or where to go with your life joining the service can help give some direction. Thanks for the feedback though.
