Chris, hearing about your internal struggles breaks my heart, but I love how despite them, you strive for a positive outlook and a way through. As potentially disastrous and difficult the current times are, I have a deep sense of optimism that we are on the brink of seeing an enormous shift in how the world operates. People will re-evaluate what is important to them. I'm hoping that they will realise that there is more to life than a job you hate and owning the next shiny thing. I think we are going to see some amazing creativity emerging from the shadows, in art, politics and economics. What is clear, is that the world cannot continue as it has been. Love to all, enjoy the extra studio time!

I love putting on your videos as I draw especially around this time now it's just nice to feel a little less like everyone is self-isolating. It sucks that your class gave you so much stress but I'm glad you're finally getting around to that painting you were thinking of! It's funny how sometimes the urge to make art just hits all at once! Anyway, I hope you stay safe and healthy : )

i admire you so much art wise but also just who you are as a person. we face the same mental blocks based on what you’ve said, and your maturity and understanding working with them in the ways you said are super touching. love your work and who you are as a person.

Hi Chris! I love your art style and I want to encourage you to give yourself some grace during this Pandemic time; it's OK if you can't reach the goals you'd normally hold yourself to. Nobody has lived through anything like this in 100 years or more; and it's not surprising that you're stressed and freaked out by the situation. Covid will fade and we'll get back to normal, and your art will still be kick-ass. Keep your chin up.

I find watching your portraiture sketching so relaxing, especially in these stressful times. I actually just signed up for Skillshare, thanks for reminding me about your class I can’t wait to learn some new techniques 😁 It’s important you allow yourself to put things on pause if they’re stressing you out and do something fun for yourself, it really helps your art. Although I understand that as a freelance artist you have to be strict with yourself or else you’ll end up broke and back on the assembly line. Life/ work balance what’s that🤷♀️

I found you on Skillshare in the midst of this quarantine deal and have been obsessed with your tutorials since. And now hearing you speak about your struggles is hitting me hard. I have been feeling the same. I’m finding that in second guessing myself as well. Just know you have a lot of people waiting to support your art and videos! Your drawing videos are so mesmerizing! Thanks for doing them

The current situation is so disruptive of our normal routines as well as creating a scary backdrop to everything we do, and I definitely think art routines will help us in the next few weeks/months. And yes, it's time for us introverts to shine (in spite of the invasions of our space by family working at home LOL!). I'm glad you'll be doing more vids, once I have a couple of literal elephants in the room painted and out of the way, I'm hoping to try some more drawing and water-colouring, inspired by lovely artists like you.

Chris, Thank you thank you thank you from my heart that you will teach us using color pencil, I have been searching through KZbin and other classes but no one is clearing some points about how to play with colors as shading, all of them teaching how to blend and etc.I LOVE YOU

Aaa Chris! I’m so happy to see you posting again. You are one of my biggest art inspirations & seeing your process means a lot to me. Especially in times like this I think we all need to be a little more relaxed with ourselves so it’s good to hear that you’re giving yourself a break from your skill share class to do something that you’ve been yearning to do! Stay safe & smart! I’m excited to see more from you soon :) -Colby

Hello, just wanna stop by and say I love your art and how amazing it is. As for the reasons you stated about what happened earlier, it's okay to feel that way at some point, most of us (if not all) have dealt with struggles with confidence and wondering if we could do the things we always wanted to do, but it's always best to make yourself your first priority and do the things you love, at least that's how I go about it. I'm glad your mental state is improving like you've mentioned and hopefully we'll get through this quarantine crisis together. Lots of love ^v^

@itunoo I think they are talking about likeliness in a portrait, like If you're drawing Billie ellish, she should look like Billie ellish
@xeon27734 жыл бұрын
@itunoo yeah, likeness is important if she's actually trying to make it look like the person. i think it depends on whether or not you're drawing in a more realistic or stylized way

Teaching is not the same thing as doing. In order to teach something you need to know a lot more about it than just to do the thing. This is the difference between content knowledge and pedagogical knowledge. I don't think you're just stuck I think you need to learn some more about the art of teaching. Read some books on teaching theories and techniques. Also read about technically terminology for whatever you're trying to teach. This should help a lot.
@pendlera29594 жыл бұрын
Part of the problem is that much of art is based on tacit knowledge that simply cannot be taught. There's a lot that students *must* learn by personal experience and no teacher can change that.

And yes Faber Castell polychromos are EXPENSIVE!! I was stalking Amazon like a creeper waiting for the price to drop before I bought them.

Maybe try working on two classes slowly over a longer time in stages going back and forth as you feel inspired to and on something you feel currently excited about rather than just what you think you should do? I think that will help you stay up and positive about a skillshare project. I look forward to someday seeing a skillshare watercolor gouache video and color pencil and watercolor video class. And drawing classes are always awesome so if you are feeling sketchy do a class on that You can also do shorter skillshare classes? and talk about elements you focus on as you draw to help us draw with you! I am feeling sketchy too lately! I so get the "weird" of videoing with someone around the first few times. Your chat was awesome thank you for sharing everything ! I dont watch anything on current affairs. And just check facts once a week and that is more than enough. Be well!
