I’m 46 years old,Gen X, and I have been lucky enough to see MJ,Kobe and LeBron play live. I’m from Phoenix and I was at the two home games we had against the Bulls in 1993 when they beat us,The Suns,in the 1993 NBA finals. It was amazing to see MJ do what he did. The Suns had a great team also. Barkley,KJ(Kevin Johnson,Dan Marjerle,Tom Chambers,Cedric Ceballos. We got to the finals for a reason but it just wasn’t enough to beat the Bulls. I moved to Los Angeles in 1997 and my good friend had season tickets to the Lakers and I went to the 2000 finals and got to see Kobe play and it was Frobee at the time. I also got to see James play a few times live but there was nothing like watching MJ play. When Allen Iverson talked about when he first seen MJ come out on the court his rookie year AI said that he seen an aura around Mike. Seeing Mike in person was like seeing some sort of God or something. It didn’t seem real. To me MJ will always be the greatest player of all time. MJ did so much for the sport of basketball. Yes basketball was popular but nothing like what it became worldwide because of Mike. Everyone wanted to “Be like Mike”. I think that Pippen,who was my second favorite player growing up,was wrong with going after Mike like that. We all know that MJ was the star of the Bulls franchise and Scottie was his wingman. That 72-10 Bulls team with Rodman was the best team to ever play the game of basketball in my opinion.

Help me out… I saw an MJ dunk over a Suns Barkley that was wicked, but never have found a replay. MJ was up top on the left, drove in the lane, Barkley was on the right block, went to the front of the rim to try and defend, both met chest-to-chest in mid-air… Jordan reached over Barkley and jammed it as he went through Barkley and knocked him on his back under the basket. Jordan hung on the rim with Barkley on his back looking up as Jordan looked down… Jordan dropped, split his legs so not to land on Barkley, switched his foot position over a decked Barkley and ran up the court. Barkley picked himself up off the court and jogged down on offense shaking his head… Do you remember what game that was? That might the best power dunk I’ve ever seen. Jordan mashed Barkley like a rag doll, and Barkley was a tank! He went right through and over him… not around him.

For context, Michael Jordan earned 96M in salaries playing for the Bulls. 63M OF HIS SALARY CAME FROM HIS LAST TWO SEASONS, before that Jordan was paid, on average, of around 3M per season since his rookie year till 1996. A LOT of his contemporaries with contracts signed before NBA blew up were in the same situation so it's not only him whofelt they "didn't get paid" enough, he just got the worst end of it because he signed the longest contract.

Here's what I think about the Pippen and Jordan feud. I think back when he was drafted Pippen was molded into a player whose ceiling was never going to exceed the likes of Jordan, usually a player like Pippen was coached to eventually be the predecessor, but no one was ever going to take over unless Jordan retired or left. He was molded to be the Bulls second best player, a defensive stopper that in order for Jordan to win games, Pippen had to guard multiple players, and massage the other team mates to ignore the bullying from Jordan. Pippen did all the dirty work so Jordan could take all the credit. Case in point...Pippen would guard the other teams highest scoring player, Jordan got all those All Defensive Teams guarding the other teams PG. I'm not saying Jordan wasn't an elite defender, it's that Pippen knew what Jordan meant for the league and how important it was for Jordan to play 82 games, and could see that if he played his role they'd be champions. Jordan would guard Hersey Hawkins/Mo Cheeks, Mugsy Bogues, Spud Webb, Craig Ehlo, Doc Rivers, none of these guys were scorers. Pippen would take Glenn Rice, Jon Starks, Ron Harper, Dominque Wilkins, Larry Bird, and Charles Barkley. I think after the Last Dance, the dude threw up his hands and was like "Bro, I basically made it possible for you to look as good as you did AND win championships, win MVP's and you gonna do me like that"??...I believe during the late 80's it was wildly known Jordan couldn't win championships while winning scoring titles. Pippen was never created to take over after Jordan left, I think he found this to be a great betrayal by all 3, Jackson, Jordan and Krause. Jordan refused to score less i believe, it's the same thing that happened between Phil and Kobe, Odom. But Kobe actually agreed to pass the ball. I think his team mates feel they had to sacrifice shots, play defense, to win and Jordan get his points.

@@patinho5589 Yeah, I just think he had expectations that he wasn't gonna get, Phil Jackson was never doing to let him take the final shots, and his assignments were always the other teams greatest player for the most part. It was by design to keep Jordan fresh, to sell tickets, to play 82 games. When Pippen was out in the Last Dance I think Jordan wanted to "rub it in" when he talked about his sacrifice to the team when he had to play point guard for those games Pippen was out. I think Pippen was thinking "Look pal, I've been making sacrifices for years for you, and you're gonna put that I'm selfish, and I'm not even good enough for the final shot of games?" I'm not siding for Pippen, I just think there's both sides to the story. He could have butted heads with Jordan and took 15-20 shots a game and forced the Bulls to trade him. But he didn't and I think he feels owed for that.

Also a mane reason MJ doesn’t do many interviews is just like Michael Jackson, they know their worth monetarily and know over saturation of your presence on camera, interviews, etc makes your value go down. If you stay out of lime light, then people miss you and so when they do agree to an interview, or appearance it’s MASSIVE and they can ask for more money. Fact

Scottie says now he wants to be remembered as the greatest but to be great you have to do great things not disappear. It was Scottie that fouled out at the end of the third quarter of the 89 EcSF vs the Knick. It was Pip who went 10-7-3 on 40% for the series against the Pistons in the 89 ECF. It was Pip who fouled out at the end of regulation with the bulls down 2 in game 3 of the finals. Everyone forgets that Scottie played like shit in the 97 finals especially the flu game. Pippen had 17 pts but on a horrible 29% shooting with 5 assists 3 turnovers and 4 fouls. After having 27-9-2 on 58% in the Game 1 win, Pippen averaged 16.7 - 8.3 - 3.7 on 32% with 3.0 TOpg and 3.7 fouls per game in their last 3 wins during Games 2-5-6. 1997/98 season - Pippen injured, misses half the season - Jordan still carries them to 62 wins and a top 3 defense and with another MVP and scoring title 1998 Finals, Game 6 - Pippen injured again, misses most of the game

Pipoen was a big contributor, but he isn’t Superman on the basketball court. Pipoen’s length and defense were key attributes. He was a KEY component of that team. Nobody is MJ and to be miserable trying to claim to be better is sad. Lebron embarrassed himself… Pipoen embarrasses himself… Does MJ whine about being the best? Magic? Bird? Nope - they did their best, left it all on the court, and it is what it is. Scottie was amazing… when his mind and body were right.

Pippen is the one who did not enter the game because of his selfishness. Pippen is the one who intentionally did not play games in 98 because he was mad about his contract. Pippen was the one who signed the contract even though the OWNER said not to sign it. When the guy who signs your checks tells you not to sign a contract because it's not good you should listen. Pippen picked his wife who has embarrassed him over and over by cheating on him and messing with people like Jordan's son.

I watched all the Bulls championships growing up. Huge fan. The last dance was accurate. It’s exactly how it happened. I’m not sure what Pippen is annoye about. He’s always sort of had a chip on his shoulder; a jealousy…plays the victim card every time he is challenged. Passive aggressive, etc. MJ never had anything but good things to say about him publicly. I think the loss of his son coupled with insecurities with the documentary and the Larsa shit had him lost. It’s understandable to some degree but damm.

Scottie's best friend is Horace Grant who also hates and resents MJ so his feelings have been lingering for years. I know MJ believes he is above everyone and he doesnt care, but he should pull up on Scottie, Horace, Craig Hodges, Barkley and Zeek and end all that stuff. Life is short and I think it would be good for his soul to be the bigger man, peace it up with all of them and move on with his life. Im 100% sure it wont happen but i hope it does.

There's absolutely nothing that is presented in the Last Dance that didn't actually happen, they didn't lie not one bit, Scottie Pippen did sit out of the game after Phil Jackson decided to give the final shot to Toni kukoc, the plain and simple fact is that if you have a problem with it then that's something you have to deal with because you know your legacy is going to be affected by what you did, it's not like the whole documentary was a Bosch Scottie Pippen, how many times has Michael Jordan given Scottie Pippen his props? He even did it in his Hall of Fame induction speech, and Michael has said numerous times that you cannot mention Michael Jordan without mentioning Scottie Pippen, so this false narrative that Scott is trying to spread making Michael out to look like Scotty did nothing for those six championships is absolutely ludicrous, the plain and simple fact is Scottie Pippen can't stand the fact that he will always be remembered as one of the greatest Robin's all time because he could never be Batman.... Michael Jordan single-handedly put six rings on Scottie Pippen's finger and anyone else that was a member of those Chicago Bulls teams because the plain and simple fact is the Bulls were not the same without Michael Jordan and they would have never had those 6 championships if it was not for MJ

But you see this is the problem right here with this conversation. Scottie never wanted to be Robin to batman that's how Jordan fans and the media turned him into, Scottie was one of the greatest players of the 90s without question but Scottie is just saying I'd like to have my credit aswell. Jordan fans make it seem like he was out there 1v5 by himself when that ain't true, the man was such a ball hogger he didn't pass to his teammates if his life depended on it but then he soon realized it's a team sport not individual like golf. Without that bulls team in general he would not have won shit it's a fact. I'm not saying scottie didn't make mistakes because he did he has but people make it seem like Jordan was perfect when that's so far from the truth. People only remember scottie because of his playing days with Jordan but other than that they don't say anything else about him. All scottie really wanted was his credit and so did his teammates like for example Steve kerr is still the greatest accurate shooter of app time and no one mentions his contribution to the bulls I guarantee bulls fans know more about him because of his coaching then for him playing on the bulls. Or how toni kucoch was the greatest European player of the time and one of the best power forwards at the time. Of course we got dennis rodman and Horace grant and Luke Longley these weren't just "support cast" but star players in their respective positions
@ericcarvelli97737 ай бұрын
@user-mz2mf8sw5h See i'm gonna poke a hole in your entire argument.. It shouldn't matter to Scottie what fans think, The national media are going to push their own narrative, Any one that has ever played or knows?Anything about team sports knows that one player can not do it all by themselves, Look at dan marino, No Quarterback that ever played the position had more talent throwing the football, Couldn't win a championship Couldn't win a championship because you didn't have a team around him.. Unfortunately the main superstar gets all the credit and all the criticism.. But no one has ever given Scotty Pippen.More credit than michael jordan himself, I mean , in his HOF induction speech, he named Him As the greatest team mate he can ever have.. He actually said you couldn't Mitch and michael jordan without saying Scottie Pippen, so To attack michael jordan personally is pathetic, and everyone knows it..if he is mad then be mad at the media not MJ, who personally went to Jerry Krause and got Scottie the contact he wanted when Krause wanted to cut him for his behavior..MJ has always had Scottie's back and DONT THINK this personal vendetta doesn't have something to do with MJ's son dating Scottie's ex...
@j809-q2s7 ай бұрын
@@ericcarvelli9773 you're correct that it does have something to do with mjs son dating pipens ex but I could also say this. Do you see how you first said scottie is one of the greatest Robin's to batman? That's one of the things scottie is upset about because he didn't want that for him he wanted to be remembered as something else not just the guy that played with Jordan and I'd argue that it did matter at the time what fans thought or still think about pippen because once your characterized in a certain light that's all you'll be known as. You didn't hear Michael giving credit to Jerry Krause for everything he did, I'd argue if it weren't for the moves he did the Jordan story would have been very different but Michael still till this day hates Krause. All I'm saying is the people who talk about Jordan being the goat have no true idea the story behind all of that fantasy story of mj. The last dance was really just a reminder of how great he was but his teammates weren't given the credit they should've. Who talks about rodman or Longley or Horace grant? Nobody does that's my point
