One of the things growing up, my parents always emphasized the importance of taking care of your feet. My parents would buy us the best shoes they could afford. Plus, my father career military and Vietnam Vet, also told us about foot care. You get trench foot, foot sores, etc. and you were screwed. My father-in-law, a WW2 vet, also said foot care was important. Same reasons. He had the most baby soft feet of any man I've ever seen. And at 90 y/o (before he passed) that man was on the go all the time. Thank you for this video and your educating us!!!

I have a couple of fungal toenails, and athletes foot from keeping my shoes on for hours after my running, but also made worse from running in the rain and snow. Damp feet all the time. Ironically I’m a foot care nurse lol, so taking care of my own feet now and they are getting better. Thank you for making these videos, I really learn from them.

When should one consult a podiatrist? How does podiatry fit into a health treatment plan?
@316lvmnoneofyourbusiness73 жыл бұрын
I'm not a doctor, but for my family and I, the rule is, if it's causing problems, see a doctor or specialist. As for your second question, think of it this way. If you don't take care of your feet, then you'll wind up with a host of other problems - back pain, spine out of alignment, hip pain/displacement, neck problems, even migraine headaches and are more susceptible to falling. If it continues, then you lose your mobility. Wind up in a wheelchair, which brings on a whole lot of other problems - self care, skin break down, infections, diminished lung capacity, poor circulation etc. Hope that answers your questions.

I am surprised that any sportsman doesn't get advice about looking after their feet as they are so necessary. When I have had issues with my feet, it has an impact making it uncomfortable or making me adjust how I move. Previously I quickly found time to do something about it, now I am older and less flexible I see a chiropodist regularly.
