I’m so thankful that the shorts-version of this video directed me here. Fei-Fei’s interpretations of Chopin PRELUDES somehow manage to get tears out of me. Idk how she packs so much emotion into her interpretations, but I love it. Watching this video helped me play my own arrangement of this prelude for left hand alone. Not a perfect performance at all, but much more impactful now than it would’ve been without this video ☺️

That is how I got here as well. She's a wonderful tutor. I wish she had played the whole piece at the end.

Besides this wonderful play and lesson, I also like her outfit, especially for the semi-see-through style sleeves. It looks elegant and ethnically stylish, which goes great with Chopin’s music.

"She told me I love you" Jaja! At this first Chopin phrase I can imagine easily a Broadway film with Gershwin music and Gene Kelly dancing. Thanks for your wonderful class, Fei Fei!!!

This was an excellent breakdown. Very analytical, but still artful in the depiction of the many characteristics behind this (master)piece. Many motifs. And even in my own reading and analysis, I’ve created my own motifs. Thanks for your influence and perspective, Fei-Fei. I really appreciate your works!

Chopin’s music is very dangerous. Understanding it may take some time. Heard this prelude before and didn’t feel anything special, that’s why I overlooked it for a very long time. After watching this video, I felt inspired to learn it. This piece is a pearl in the middle of the ocean of sadness, melancholy and despair in Chopin’s music, which I love, but a clear example that the music is above of what scholars tell us how to play it. A poem like this can be ruined by following what academics we should do. That’s why there are so many recordings of beautiful pieces from profesional pianists that go to oblivion and remain hidden. Thank you for your insightful analysis of this piece

All of Chopin's music has that imprint of his native land, the nostalgia of not being able to be there and the war events that harassed his beloved land for so many years. In the coda of this piece, I imagine the "sforzando" (Fz) bass representing the cannons in the distance, while the right hand continues playing the sweet melody that reminds of his land, his childhood and his family.

it ´s on KZbin at last ! :) Very enjoyable , indeed ! I have no difficulty imagining this being Mendelssohn`s favourite , it certainly is one of the most beautiful and it is, in all appropriate modesty , one of my favourites , too . Thank you for your wonderful playing , dear Fei - Fei !

Nice and important emotional analysis....I can only guess it's called romanticism for a good reason :) Subjective emotions are important because they add extra dimensions to the score. A strictly classical approach to Chopin will not give his music that extra life and magic. (Too often, one has witnessed conservatory students hump their way through this piece.)

Chopin told a student that the 11 bass Ab at the end are based on a bell tower ringing at 11pm.

if true or not this makes sense and is way more appropriate for thjis music and chopin than the crap this person is saying about hot air ballons and whatever the heck. clearly like a sunrise to sunset type of improvisation based on a simple theme

this just sounds like a musical improvisation like a seed waking up, growing, opening up, flowering, and relaxing back down, like a sunset. anyone who knows anything about chopin and music in general would never ever say the junk this dork is comign up with

NEVER say? lol it's really really normal for musicians to come up with illustrations of their own thinking of pieces, and it's all up to your interpretation. If you don't want to listen to HER thinking or HER interpretation of this music, then why the f-ing heck are you watching this video in the first place? Do you expect her to have the SAME thinking as you are?? lmao what bruh
