Hi Ray, thanks so much for doing this video! I'm watching it in 2025 as I'm trying to figure out a wireless audio setup for the podcast I'm trying to launch. Was keen to use the Rode Wireless Pro system but was worried about mic bleed and background noise with the standard omni lavs, so been looking for a compatible cardioid lav and the Samson definitely looks promising! Curious if you're still using it now in 2025, or if there are any newer models you might recommend? Last question - is the audio in this video straight from the mic, or do you use any post processing? Sounds great!

Gen 5 and Caliber have similar bushing seats, "restrictive" with the Bear having the addition of the grooves added for the bushing to be more free on the bottom side for leans. Kind of cool concept. The rake and ability to flip the hangers on the Gen 5 Bear's is another difference I liked about them with the Caliber being what seems a more precise, snappy, turn rather than surfy or flowy. I believe the ideal of flipping the hanger originated with Randal Trucks. They also have a closed bushing seat, though not as defined. That added definition could be some part of the reason for their feeling more restricted. Also a good truck, except for my having experience with their pivot "pins" not being perfectly circular in the way both Bear and Caliber have that perfected, there may be some advantage to that slight imperfection (which may not exist on all of their trucks), but I can't think of one to mention. I found the same problem with both the 852 and Caliber seeming to need a softer, or more forgiving, bushing (or lower durometer) for making the bushings themselves work a little harder by putting more pressure on them directly without the allowance of movement against the hanger like the, what I believe to be, improved Gen 6 Bear Trucks (or others); their open bushing seat allows the movement lacking in the others creating more responsiveness with a somewhat flowy turn at the same time. A flat washer on top and bottom frees the truck up to turn also. Or combinations of cupped on the bottom and flat up top or vica versa works as well. The Gen 5 852 having a flippable hanger is one of the better attributes the truck has with it making the truck more stable creating a lower degree (47 degrees) and negative rake for a less flowy feel which I found better suited for the rear truck and some additional stability with a differing feel while steering allowing rear more pressure or focus on the rear without concern of a surprise response from the rear truck, turning both the front and rear at the same time with ease rather than having to focus as much on making the rear truck be still and without as much fear of twitchy movement from the same. The restrictive bushing seats are good for stability and for testing the quality of your bushings at the same time. I didn't like the trouble I had installing harder duro bushings on the Gen 5 as their bushing seat can become picky, but did like them overall. I like the idea of the flippable hanger and the multifunctional design, if that's even a thing, since they're designed for on road and off road alike. They could be easier to turn, but I guess that's part of the bushing seats being restricted and something that can be modified with the use of the correct durometer bushings per weight, etc. and even without what may be considered correct allowing them to turn like any other at a lower durometer than suggested with what seems to be the same as the suggested because of their design. I like that they can obtained for lower cost, but don't like their scarcity at lower angles than the 52/47 combination for 45/40 and 40/35 offering more stability at higher speeds and so many company's offering trucks at the same angles that are easier to obtain. Plug Barrels should work to stabilize both the 852 and Caliber Trucks; if not, the 852 may be modified for the plug to fit with a file or a stepped drill bit to make them fit the same. Cones upside down seems dangerous. Riptide's Fatcone may be used upside down and there be no more danger with their use, but instead what they describe as a more progressive feeling while riding offering both responsiveness and stability at the same time. Rounding the edges on Venom or other square edges bushings may work the same, but the Fatcone is designed to be installed as a bigger cone upside down with the resistance spreading against, then across a large flat washer boardside at the baseplate or roadside at the kingpin nut. The softer durometer than recommended may still be a thought with the restrictive bushing seat, but with a little more pressure, the bushings will still turn and recommended duro to weight seems to be best in every truck except the 852 for some reason. Bushing formula, or as previously mentioned, a more forgiving bushing like Venom HPF, Riptide APS or WFB may be in need also as some others don't seem to work as well with the same quality existing no matter the truck used. Bear's Jim Z bushings work well with the 852 trucks and the lower durometer concept, or thought, comes from their stepped bushings at 85a being more like a 90a bushing from other company's. potentially for their being wider. Overall Bear's 852 and Calibers are trucks good enough for daily use and like any others can be made to perform as well as any of not better as they're both still manufactured the same. I like that Caliber offers narrower hangers where Bear doesn't, but their being more responsive, even with the closed bushing seat also requires more focus when used, while offering what seems better overall control. The control seeming to not exist for their response being so quick so they're a little scarier to use. Good trucks. A lot of words to say the same. I've not used the 852 in a long time, but somethings made me want to put them to use along with the others. Probably not so nostalgic, but just to see how they perform in comparison. I'm a little afraid I'll find they were set aside prematurely or for no reason, except in comparison to the Gen 6 for their Gen 6 Trucks being such a change in comparison. Closed bushing seats to completely open. The 852 says, "viva a la resistance!" where the Gen 6 says, "all systems go!" with no fighting back when trying to apply pressure against the bushing during turn. A little off topic, but their truck being completely redesigned and their "ditching" the closed bushing seats makes me question Calibers design or concept in staying with the closed bushing seat through each generation of truck with the change in their design being in their offering rake (and potentially a flippable hanger for negative rake), but nothing else that changes performance making their new truck something like a Bear 852 and Gen 6 in one with similarities in design incorporated all into one truck that seems like it will be great to use. (I have a set of Raked Caliber III Trucks on the way that I'm now more excited to use.) It's a snow day today, otherwise knowledge of the 852 would be more available for this jumbled response to the "review" I just watched. I probably won't ever see any response to this response for my not ever seeing alerts for messages or anything from/on KZbin, but it's a thing to do when without shit else in mind and at least, a seemingly good way to share knowledge of whichever topic at hand. With at hand being literal for my having a phone in my hands while doing so. Hopefully my response isn't too jumbled/mixed up to be understood. Great review, except for the suggestion of using the cone upside down as that's potentially hazardous to anyone's health should they reach any kind of higher speed for the top of regular cone bushings being so much smaller in diameter than the bushing seat itself, but it doesn't seem a bad idea for any in want for an easier turn at the same time. It has to be some common ideal for the same for Riptide having produced Fatcones which can be used with the narrow end against the hanger or the wide end against the hanger on completely open bushing seats for more resistance without compromising safety. Maybe more use of the products or some footage of the bushings compressing to show how they work if ever the ideal arise in the future. I can't tell you how much "my thought" was judged questioning things while watching is the main reason for telling of the potential need for the showing of their mechanical function beyond the hanger flipping. I'm sure the same thoughts are part of multiple others reactions. Hopefully they don't experience perversion to their present moments based upon them as well. I still wonder what the meaning of the numbers on the hangers are as my 852 don't have numbers, but my Gen 6 does. It could be something more about production date of production and you have a newer model? maybe older? They look a little different. The engraved bear insignia is cooler looking. Potentially a better version? Have a great day/night. I also wonder if this response is even relevant for it being so long after the review, but it doesn't matter so much as I've spent long enough typing it to press the "you've got mail" button anyway.

Hey, I wanted to thank you for this wonderful video! As a 44-year-old, I have now taken up skateboarding again with my 7-year-old, who is learning skateboard from the beginning. I can fully confirm everything you say in your friendly, funny and self-deprecating manner. I used to surf, snowboard and, because I live far away from the mountains and the sea, also skateboard along much other sports. I've forgotten over the years how nice it is to just cruise down the road and enjoy the ride. As you say, at my age I don't have any ambitions for aerials or anything like that (which I wasn't good at when I was younger 😀), but skateboarding is a great way to explore new areas and enjoy the scenery. The tips you've collected have confirmed to me once again that it's not completely absurd to start doing it again and also what's important in terms of safety. Thanks, I will continue to explore and recommend your channel. Ride on!

This video helps, thank you. As an adult getting back into skating... people were amazed at my abilities upon returning after 20 years. Nobody believed me that I sucked at skateboarded as a kid. These tips help (also it will still hurt bailing at a park even with full protective gear). I found out through this process that there are butt protectors, that might be worth a mention.

I like this vid, very informative. the lens hood dark cornor seemed answered my question: why does Nero 1.5X anamorphic adapter limit the prime lens focus to minimum 40mm? Hood effect, the adapter attached to the front of the lens act as a hood, and I really appreciate anyone who'd give more explanation about my question. Cheers! And btw, which 35mm lens has the worst distortion?

Came across this video to see if skatebording is a viable transport tool. This video was great and I decided to do a bit of resharch into this channel. This guy is not only great but a fighter, he has been batteling a form of aggressive cancer since childhood, beat it 6 times. In the end he passed on but that story left behind is very inspiring. I wish hid family and his close circle the best. Rest in peace buddy
