There is one thing I want to mention, for as it has happened to me - and might be interesting for someone else with senstive knees. When rotating the leg around (as the climax of the lesson suggests) i somehow put ALL my weight on the leg - and thought by myself - how different und "funny" (a lil clumsy if you will) Alfons looks like in the video when doing it...well I came to the conclusion that: I crushed and hurt my knee when doing it this way - and you, Alfons may have preserved your kneehealth...I didn't notice while doing it, until way later, after the lesson - up to today, still hurting more than ever before... so please guys, watch out for this trap - knee savety first kindest, cc

Great and important observation, Carmen! Thank you for sharing. 🙏❤️ Please be gentle to yourself everyone. How do you enter into unusual movements? How to elegantly ("not clumsily" 😅) move the torso out of the way so that the knee can pass under unharmed? In psychology this is an important question: How do we respond to the unknown? There's great videos here on KZbin on the topic, for example by Jordan Peterson. But what if clinical psychologists or cognitive neuroscientists would not only lecture, but also teach equally sophisticated movement classes?

Dear One, I did it in a row, for both legs, hips, and what a feeling of gigantic legs at the end, long, amazingly grounded on earth, BEAUTIFUL feeling of open and relaxed hips on standing and even shoulders! THANK YOU, much love and GRATITUDE

I did this because thought it pertinent to a hip problem I’ve been dealing with. I could feel the quadriceps muscle wince when I first lifted it from the ground. At the end of the session it felt easier to lift. A difficult but satisfying work out of the left leg. Ill do the right leg later. Thank you for making this available for free.

This lesson made me so happy! On my first run through, I only did the left leg and stopped at about 20 minutes. That felt like enough information for now. I tried sitting in full lotus, and there is ease in hips that I have never felt in all my 30 years of doing lotus posture - my pelvis was automatically in the position for my spine to elongate, and I feel serenity at the same time as a bubbly kind of aliveness. This is truly a life-altering moment. What a blessing you are, Alfons! Thank you. Thank you.

I found it challenging to reach my foot lying with both legs long, so I prepped by bringing my other knee up and out to the side. That position allowed me to easily reach my foot with my opposite hand and I could ease into the stretch while using my hand to manipulate my foot a bit. After that it was much easier to reach my foot with the same side hand with both legs straight. Alfons, this series has been so helpful to me, thank you. I sprained my inner ankle in January and this has really helped my foot regain it’s pliability. I hadn’t realized how much my foot and toes had stiffened up from my ankle sprain - it makes sense, of course, but I was so focused on rehabbing my ankle that I hadn’t thought about the rest of my foot!

This was a very enjoyable movement session once I realized the effort I was using to do the moves were actually hindering the smoothness. Somewhere during the second round on my other leg the session really became effortless. This lesson is a keeper. Thank you, Alfons.

Tomorrow night I'll do my right leg ... and maybe by then will be able to make the full circle ... but maybe not! But for now, this was a good way to finish a (difficult) day .... now the next morning, and right leg done too, and some very careful full circles. Feels great, the softness and smoothness in my movement compared to before thank you Alfons xxx

Great ! Loved that one - although, I have to admit, I cheated a little bit, because my quadriceps of the upperthigh (as explored in episode 2) is not as flexible as it could/should be, and I was not able to follow along (with ease and grace) in the previous video, but continued working myself through this series, and am looking forward to UP5 soon (and then will finally dive into crawling), I love this basic childhood movements so much, they somehow seem to stimulate something in me, something basic, easy, intuitive, experimental, uplifting (mood) joy and playfulness come to a full extend at these explorations :D

Currently I'm working through each lesson "From The Ground Up" and they all been simply amazing. In this lesson I've noticed two things. After the lesson and lying on the back at the end, I've noticed that my left leg was like 10 cm longer than the right one. Also while lying on the belly and lifting the left leg up, after the session, the range was extremely big, Im saying not 10 cm but more like 40, when compared to my right leg where I could barely lift it off the ground. Also I've noticed how the nervous system relaxes when lying on the back after a couple of sequences, and I start to sigh. I once went to a Feldenkrais workshop and the teacher told us to not lift heavy weights after a Feldenkrais session, nor do a strength training as the fascia will be lengthened and could lead to injuries. What is your opinion on lifting weights or doing strength work after a Feldenkrais class?

Hi Kacper, thank you for sharing your thoughts and experience! I’m happy you appreciate my videos 😄🙏 Regarding your question, I don’t know why that teacher said that, or on what grounds/conditions this advice was based 🤷♂️ I would recommend to come to your own conclusions and don’t let anyone limit you… not in your thinking, and certainly not in your joy for movement and weight training. Apply common sense, best practice and stay healthy 💪☀️

working more with that series (3rd day in a row - yeah!) I was able to approach this episode with more caution and confidence - to explore how nicely built up it is - climaxing into the full rotation of the leg - and afterwards - what a stable leg in standing! like a colloum in anciant greece strong, stable, centered! *cheers* this IS magick - or is this Feldenkrais?! :D

looks like :) just did Up 1, 2 & 4 again after 2 days break, last time Up4 only right, today mainly left, but actually both, and I feel amazing, my left arch of the foot is lifted now, more than ever, walking feels great (the last 2 days i has heavily biased and almost stumbled in the train and everywhere, was really off balance the last two days, exploring only the right leg last time) so now I am looking forward to a new feeling of walking - my motion of the lower leg has much increased only by doing this ATM a few times in a row - wanted to work with a lesson continously for so long and never made it through, now I'm in ! SO great to have you along with me on this journey!

Hello, I just watched your video: Relief neck tension with basic head movements. And you talk about another video for the feet that complements the movement. I looked for it on the playlist, but I couldn't find it. Also, how often should I do them?. Can you please tell me what video is?. Thank you ✌️

So do you do the video once on with the left leg and then start it again to repeat on the right leg? I got 20 mins in and just started again on the other side.

@@Wimsa43 I too was in so much pain I was unable to get down, let alone up. I’m working at my bodies pace and trust me it’s slow and painful learning my limits. Love yourself and work within your limits. My mobility has been transformed and I will make these practices a habit. 16 years of Rheumatoid Arthritis suffering even while on medication led me to stop all treatment. I’m taking the reins now. Hej there Wimsa - have you also seen Alfons videos (7yrs old already) - Squatting to sit on a chair, and the two other "squatting" videos - focusing on how to sit down easy, furthermore: sit down to the floor made easy again and: reclaim your space - how to get to the floor. Even for me, as a rather young person, I enjoyed and needed these lessons to get to and from the floor with more ease and less effort. Perhaps you can take one or the other thing from it.
