I found this movie by accident and I've got to say I have never been more amused by an animated cat movie. It's up there as one of my favorites.

It's kind of fucked up that this is the first thing you encounter when watching Felidae. This song has a relaxing, nostalgic sounding, "everything's gonna be alright" vibe to it, and then the rest of the movie follows which is NOT OKAY AT ALL. That being said, despite the disturbing nature of the film, it's actually pretty good. The only reason I found it so incredibly weird was because it was about animated, feral cats. If this were about humans, and perhaps live action, it probably wouldn't have turned too many heads.

According to Wikipedia, Boy George makes music in the "new wave", "soul", "pop", "soft rock", and "disco" genres. I can't really place this particular genre either, but I would say maybe it leans closer to soft rock? (I usually listen to heavier music so idk) but you might try looking into music of those genres to find similar stuff :)

Some interesting things to note. The song is depressing mainly because of the lyrics. The 2nd act in the song is actually about claudanus not Francis. Books to poison the mind, talk to this cat like this cat is a child. Such imperfection in human design, but if life has to change why must it be mine? Its referring to pascal/claudandus's owner the professor who took him off the streets when he was young, who also tortured and used him for surgical expeirments. Who also spoke to him frequently while drunk. Claudandus was convinced from the horror and watching his other lab cats being slaughtered all of mankind is evil and the current domesticated cats are slaves to men who must be killed in order for a new generation to reject mankind and be wild animals that are free once again. The line "if life has to change, why must it be mine?" Is clandandus questioning the circumstances of all he has been through, if men are not pure and innocent why do I have to suffer? This falls in place with his last words to Francis. " you see me now and you see evil, but I was once good. "
