@makaylaforbes6719Ай бұрын
@apatheticempathy they deserve to be spoiled. Their lives are way too short. These guys just turned 6 years old a couple weeks ago, and those 6 years have flown. I'm already heartbroken thinking they only have another 10 years give or take. Actually, if I had the money I would get some land and build 2 or 3 catios and take in unwanted cats (I hate calling them unwanted) so they would be safe (able to stay without euthanasia) until they find their forever people. I'd only need a place with a couple extra rooms for the cats to find a bed indoors when the weather isn't agreeable for them and enough room for good sized pens so they could run, climb, and find their own spots to curl up when they want fresh air. The biggest barrier besides that would be having a vet I could count on who wouldn't charge me through the nose for initial checkups when the buddies get dropped off. It gives me mixed emotions of heartbreak and obscene anger when people abandon cats or kill litters. Rehousing pets when it's too difficult to care for them isn't that difficult, it just takes a little bit of time on top of VERY minimal effort. There's always a family, farmer, or old person looking for a dog to play with or a cat for the barn. Not to mention how much comfort they offer and how much companionship they offer.

I agree, not just with veterinarian's, but doctors as well, especially in the area I live. I rescued my cat the summer of 2009 when a neighbor moved, just leaving him behind in an empty house. In June 2021 I regrettably took him in just for a basic checkup, they also gave him a vaccine, without even telling me before I could object or anything. Coincidently, 3 or 4 weeks later, he got extremely ill and after going back, they drew blood, had blood work done, and he was diagnosed with cancer....Lymphoma. He was fairly young when I first got him, but that was 2009, so at the time of the diagnosis, he would have been around 13 to 14 years old, and the vet said he maybe had 3 to 6 months left given age and type of cancer. Only treatment recommended was chemotherapy, to which I refused and never went back to them. I got online researching all natural treatments for cats with cancer and found something called Life Gold made by another Veterinarian herself and decided to try it out, despite talking to many other veterinarian's and not one had heard of it, plus all the reviews sounding too good to be true as I am very skeptical of many things like that, especially online. It is now November 2024, and I'm VERY HAPPY to say he is still with me and doing quite well!! He's been my best friend ever since the day I rescued him all those years ago, and I couldn't imagine the last 15 years without him. I hope to have many more, but no matter what, I cherish each and every day, and I'm so glad I decided to take the chance on that medicine, which has given us much more time then what the veterinarian's diagnosis and treatment method ever would have.

About rolling in the grass, that exposes them to fleas. Learned the hard way when I had to de flea my entire house. That was the end of the outdoor enclosure with grass. Also, black cats are more likely to bond to humans since they are less successful day hunters. The same hold true for white cats and Siamese. I have four black cats, all very affectionate.

All of our cats are indoor cats. Neutering a cat depends things not mentioned. In 2008, I brought home a young black female short hair who was partially feral. Finally got her to the vet when she was about 10 months old and they said she was too small to neuter. 2010, a small male tiger showed up at our door waiting for someone to let him in. Took him to a different vet when the male was about 8 months old, along with the female who was by then over two years old. Neutering a male, not a problem as it's all external. The female, they said she is too small, bring her back when she's bigger. Well, our queen is almost 17 and quit going into heat a couple years ago and is still the same size. She remained mostly elusive until another male kitten joined us almost 10 years ago. Within the first week he found her and convinced her to come out of hiding. About 6 months after he was neutered, he was the first of the two males (both twice her size) to mount her when she went into heat. The three of them knew it was supposed to be something like this, but didn't know anything past standing over her. Sad but funny, as they tried to figure out what was wrong. She was even confused.

As a Cat Mom, who lives in a NYC apartment, I feel guilty of depriving my cats of their natural instincts of being outside and chasing birds/ small prey. I can see that when I watch them looking out the window and making clicks sounds as they watch a bird sit on a tree outside my 2 floor apartment. I try to make it to them by taking them to the local park in a pet stroller - but, it is not the same. Cats need to be outside part of the time to run and chase. It is their independent natural nature. Of course, it is not safe in a City. But, in my opinion, a person living in a suburb with a yard -or farm should allow their cat to live how they’re meant to be.

Hm, there're tons of lilies in our garden and both our and stray cats never showed any interest in them, no matter how low the flower was hanging.
@VladimirE.-is2eeАй бұрын
Cats are usually good at avoiding this kind of hazard in nature. The problem is such flowers indoors as, asides from the fact a cat might show interest in a plant she otherwise wouldn't simply because there's nothing else around, pollen falls and collects on surfaces indoors in ways it doesn't outdoors where it drops into soil. So, a cat might walk near a lilly, then wash her paws and get poisoned.
@melodi996Ай бұрын
@VladimirE.-is2ee yup, fallen pollen indoors definitely sounds dangerous. I also read quite many reports on how cat ate almost all leaves from the dangerous plant and their owner were searching for ways to prevent that and save the plant while all results they got were how to save a cat, while cat was totally fine. One of my cays just hunts indoor plants, he's not interested on fresh grass, he needs those big leave, he's not eating them, but bites into them leaving round marks or sometimes shredding them. He tries to do it each evening while I'm spooking him drom doing that. It's an interesting thing for me as other cats that live here find plants just as place to hide or play, nobody but this one cat have ever eaten any house plants. That one cat was rescued as an adult, so I don't know his upbringing too well, maybe something in his past drives him to do it or he's just like that.

Jesus lord. A most cursory bit of research tells you that sodium n-propyl thiosulfate which garlic contains is toxic to cats as it causes hemolysis - specifically, red blood cell death, and that garlic is about five times as toxic as onion in this respect (in terms of effectiveness per gram consumed). The person saying garlic might be good for cats is an idiot, degree or not, and you shouldn't spread nonsense around. I mean, it's like saying potassium cyanide might be actually good for humans.
@Avelcaine28 күн бұрын
Lol. Think about this one. Garlic. Onions. Lillies. What do they have in common? It's the bulbs. Bulb plants are universally toxic to cats, with lilies being the absolute worst. The bulbs themselves have the highest toxin concentration in said plants. Ergo, no garlic for your cat.
@rogerking7258Ай бұрын
Well, you simply can't generalise about rules. My family had a kitten when I was seven years old. She had two litters before being neutered and was free to come and go as she pleased. I was twenty nine with children of my own when she finally died of nothing but extreme old age.
@tykeandjonsieshow359528 күн бұрын

Sounds like you're just pushing a certain agenda not really about caring for the cat. My cousin's cat died at 2 years old it was spayed put the cat still snuck outside in the room around and got ran over by a car so from your logic about myth number one being spaded killed the cat

I'd rather my cat have a short, exciting and fulfilling life than a 20 year long life stuck inside bored out of its mind and unable to ever follow its instinct to hunt.

I rescued a female cat that was outside and she has no desire to go outside after what she's went through four years of horrible abuse outside she's an inside cat and she won't go outside regardless she loves staying in the house playing eating healthy foods and being safe she does not even try to get outside and I haven't had her fixed even yet because she had a lot of health issues from being outside and not taking care of properly so all cats do not want to go outside some love it inside especially when they had terrible life outside starving no food cold when it's winter and snowing where I'm at I think my cat Lila is quite happy inside so not all cats want to go outside

Hi , my son has a kitten and he is with me a lot , Are you saying they can have garlic, a very small bit, inside cheese The reason I ask, is years ago, when my husband was still alive we had racing pigeons, and would put a small piece of garlic in their water, we also gave our fogs a tiny piece of garlic and it worked no fleas . You could see the fleas running from our pets . Then lately watching videos on cats and their advising not to hive garlic. Thank you for sharing ❤️.

@@karenmcardle142NO! This will kill them! Do NOT feed your cat garlic or cheese!

@@toebeans3985 I won't thanks for letting me know, I actually thought cheese was ok, in a very small quantity. I definitely won't be giving either . Thanks again, 🕊⚘💐

@@karenmcardle142 cats are actually not able to digest cows milk… only their mothers milk The myth with a bowl of cream for Kitty, is just that, a myth. Learned from a vet.

Cheese and garlic? A combo so good it should be illegal! 🧀🧄😂 What’s next, world domination via snacks? Let us know how it turned out-sounds like a game-changer! 🍽🔥

Don't care what you say, neutering is cruel. Cats don't need all those vaccinations either.

But the vets! The vets need you to pay for vaccines.
