I've been thinking about a lifetime membership to the gpaa is the initial cost for that membership worth it and how does it work?? Am I limited on equipment(I'm not bringing high bankers or anything like that) just basics ( maybe metal detector) and are all claims GPS cooridinates??

I would try it one or two year membership before going lifetime. That way you can see exactly what you're getting yourself into before spending all that money. They give you a mining guide when you sign up and it tells you everything you need to know. Yes certain claims are limited to certain equipment But the mining guide tells you all of that.
