It was not a fine, but that Zhang Jike offered to refund the 45,000 prize money for the competition and then publicly apologized. I'm pretty sure in sports it's normal to have emotional outbursts, disqualification is when a player breaches the code of conducts, but I don't really see a big problem here besides breaking the ad screen which isn't much to be disqualified for. Unless however he had racket abuse and other code violations, but I think otherwise it's unfair to disqualify a player purely on their emotions alone without great disruption of the code of conduct.
Disappointing behavior yes, but we’ve all done stupid stuff at that age. Fantastic player and I hope he learns from this.

Felix has attracted too much admiration too quickly, something like a great white hope. He's one of the new kids on the block, and needs to make it to at least his early 20's before he's proved himself. What happens if and when other players figure out his weak points, which may be already happening. I think he also just lost in Frankfurt. Harimoto won his first major at 13, later other players gradually got to know his game. Now he's one of the greatest, but not what people predicted. Mattenot was another one a dozen years ago; he never fulfilled what "experts" were predicting.

Not totally useless. Red card may imply disqulification either of only the match, the event, or the whole competition. Disqualifying only from the match after the end of it would indeed be basically useless. However, he was disqualified from the men's singles event, meaning that he doesn't only lose the match, but loses any ranking point linked to that event (as if he hadn't played the men's singles at all). I believe this makes the card relevant. He also has to pay compensation for the broken screen.

Unfair. MEINER MEINUNG NACH. Was andere denken. Vor allem Franzosen... Mir egal.
