This was REALLY hard to watch. There is just one rule with chickens: Never have them stand around, just walk in. It doesn't matter if they die as long as they die inside the enemy base.

I'm a few years late to this party but this is the best game of Supreme Commander I've watched, I was on the edge of my seat the whole time and it did not disappoint through the entire time!

Farmsletje had no ability to deny expansion other than to fire artys. They had 3 times more mass income than he did - each. I would've just spammed T2 and T3 land and be as annoying as possible. There's thing thing I've notice among a lot of players that when they reach experimentals, they don't go back to t3 or t2. Which makes no sense to me. The small units are faster and can be spammed over a larger area. Going air was an option at some point, but when you lose 4 bugs you need to stop trying to hammer a bent nail.

I was watching this very confused on where their eco was going. Especially Lyuker, there's no way he was spending his whole eco, the only thing he was building was that little area of his base.

@@VexingRaven He had no build power to use his eco aside from big major projects. The reason why players often find it hard to spam t3 or t1 late game (t1 arty spam has more effect than t3 arty spam by a long shot btw) is because of apm demands, thinking of angle of attacks, and general lack of build power. T4 exp spam is always inferior to t3 bot spam (Percival for example always win mass for mass against a gc, and 5 soul rippers worth of strat bombs would have probably ended the game if you have one soul ripper to tank for the bombers). T4s however are easy to use, and relatively micro non intensive, and you don't need dedicated build power (building t3 spam generally requires a lot of slave factories, which obviously takes up map space that you otherwise want to use for other things). Everyone has a hand apm and brain apm in sup com, and it's important to not misuse your apm as it were. This is why at super late game, Cybran or UEF have the advantage due to hives. They can actually use their eco once it gets insane (like 1k+ mass income). An aeon player without uef/cybran tech finds it really hard to utilize an eco of that size. That being said, spamming t1 arty late game is also useless as long as your opponent is prepared for it (t1 arty spam counters Percivals and Bricks to a lesser extent, but not loyalists, mls, gcs, or the sera t4). It's most effective if you have air control, and high tech transports to drop arty all over the enemy's relatively undefended outer mexes/power grid. You weaken their eco so you can reach game enders earlier. What you never want to do at high level is to make a mass negative attack (aka you feed them more mass than assets you destroy). One mass negative attack late game is automatically a game loss when you play vs good players. I'm just very surprised that they didn't start spamming RAS commanders; I guess people didn't realise how broken they were late game during this particular patch. I get that the bottom player was probably too worried about living to eco much, but the top team has no real excuse. Also making multiple failed attacks with T4s was what doomed them for sure. A good general rule in sup com is to never repeat the same manner of attack after it is repelled, except for t3/4 arties and other such game enders.

1989ElLoco farms did let two of his GCs get wiped while his attention was apparently elsewhere, but you're right, for the most part he was always one step ahead (with a lot of luck along the way)

That game was AWESOME. Gyle, DO NOT apologize for the last half of the game evolving into an arty/nuke-fest. It was very interesting to see how both sides tried to solve the problems they were faced with. Farms played a fantastic game, but IMHO, I think he probably should've got wrecked a few times. His opponents were a just a little to unlucky methinks. Anyway, great cast!

These kind of things are awesome. The arty spam was something I enjoyed. The target switching and "accuracy" kept it tense as to whether team 1 would survive or have their stuff blown to oblivion. If only I-COM had thought to put his com up in the shielded area or on a transport, that would've made this even more dramatic, because he could've slowed down Farms enough with Chickens swarms and Bugs that Lyuker would have built up around the rest of the map with impunity.

Honestly walking the com around isn't a terrible idea if you've got the health. Arty is inaccurate enough that it's probably not going to hit, and while it's missing you it's not destroying something important. (It's like the blitz.)

I wish Team 1 had used some mobile Tier 3 artillery at any point, but they comlpetely neglected the ground units when they had an uncontested advantage over the surrounding region. Despite several GCs available, they could've stationed Soul Rippers to protect any short-range artillery to break the base.

Quite the upset for Team 2. If both team were both running on supercomputers, I'm pretty certain that Team 1 would've won if I-Com was pulling his weight. He wasted 4 chickens to a nuke, wasted his opportunity for the ion storm in the base and even managed to get himself nuked.
