Wednesday September 25 2019 at 7.55am. The 00.34 Masborough N&W Gbrf depot to Felixstowe South Gbrf (8.19) pulled by 66733 and about 7 mins late. 65 seconds of the wait for the train was cut. Originally this was the level crossing next to Felixstowe station. It was replaced by a new Felixstowe station on a short branch line in 1898 and this station became Felixstowe Beach. It closed in 1967 and passenger trains no longer come here. For 70 years freight trains had to reverse in Felixstowe station to get here because the direct line had been lifted and wasn't put back until 1970. Some still call this Felixstowe Beach LC despite it being the only crossing in Felixstowe. Note that it is perfectly alright to stop on this crossing as there are no Keep Crossing Clear signs nor a yellow box. At the end the view along the line (filmed in June) shows the old station platform. In 1953 there were major floods here and 41 people were drowned in Felixstowe alone.
