Lovely video Damian and very well put together, some serious work went into this we should imagine. The spot looked amazing for the views and apart from the wind the weather looked great too. See what you mean about the sheep comment you left on our video now lol. We like to cook with buddy burners/twigs ect but unfortunately we have to go to the dark side and take gas sometimes if its going to be too windy. Thanks for sharing the vid, we really enjoyed it. All the best, Gareth&Zoe Wildcamps

Looked a brilliant camp. Lovely spot. "Wild camping is great if nothing goes wrong" lol. The camp my brother and I talk about the most and what we both consider as our "best" wild camp was when 2 tents got destroyed by the wind in the middle of the night and we abandoned camp at 3am walking back in torrential rain and waist deep melting snow. It was bloody AWESOME. ATB MARK.

Have you considered one of those small micro BRS stoves? they fold into hardly anything and have a little pouch. Okay, you need the gas cannister but it wouldn't be as bulky as the Coleman stove? I have the BRS stove and it's a cracking little piece of kit on a night out with lightweight gear. Fantastic video as always, some stunning scenery which is incredible. ATB.

Its one of my favourite places (the western fells) and there is lots of parking in the Crummock water area so was a no brainer for me. Chasing sheep is fun, warms you up before getting in the sack. If your serious about bagging a sheep, the best way is by downhill mountain biking with wellies and baseball bat. Just start at the top and pick out several targets on the way down, once your good at it you'll get a few then take your pick but remember go for lamb as mutton is a bit tough, mutton dressed as lamb is somewhere in the middle and thats what I prefere. Top tip: wearing a mask is recommended incase someone spots you mind. ATB

The key is getting a good supply of oxygen otherwise the fire smolders and goes out. It was too rocky where I was to dig a hole and it didn't matter where I had the wind shield, the flame was blowing out in all directions

Some great time lapses Damien. I'd definitely put up with a flappy bivi for those views. Nothing like that down here in the fens. Have you ever thought above a gas stove. I know a jetboil is expensive but there are cheaper options alpkit brewkit, fire maple etc. Even if you kept your crusader cup and went with a msr pocket rocket type stove. You can refill the canisters with the right adapter if cost is an issue. I have a Coleman 442 featherlite petrol stove which lives in the car but in my opinion is still to big to take hiking. I'll be honest I like the fact your a traditionalist and stick to buddy burners but out on the hills they Can be an arse. Ha I'm waffling. Love the vid mate Kind regards Kai
@Fell_Wanderer7 жыл бұрын
I think I'll stay with buddy burners as I like being able to burn twigs so they last longer and less weight to take. I may try a small gas burner at some point if I do more hill camping but there are so many options out there. Thanks for the comments, ATB

I have a hexi stove and tablets and they are better than wax burners. Its in my bug out bag in the car and keep that for emergencies. I like making buddy burners and have lots to use up so tend to go with that option, the thing is I took the wrong stove on that occasion as I have the Coleman 533 petrol stove and although a little bulky and heavy is brilliant for the hills. Thanks for your input, ATB

@Fell_Wanderer7 жыл бұрын
Sorry Mark missed this message, I didn't go on the trip. Try a hooped bivy, they are much better than an open bivy as they have a bug net and you can have it open when the weather is fine so you can lay under the stars. ATB
@k956upg7 жыл бұрын
Love that benny hill bit...keep that for your next vid... Still say the Dutch hooped biv is better...more leg room...not had any condensation yet even sleeping in the rain without a tarp. Thumbs up as always & keeping one eye open for the next video..
@Fell_Wanderer7 жыл бұрын
The dutch bivi is more breathable and roomy plus you can get a large pack down at the bottom where your feet is. It's a bit heavier and not as small packed down though. I've heard the zips can fail and they come in used condition, I wasn't sure what kind of quality I would get as some come with professional repairs?. it was a hard choice, lots of plus and minus with both bivi's but I'm happy with the Stratosphere and I'm sure would have been happy with the Dutch bivi also, Thanks for your comment, ATB
