Felling Trees for SILVOPASTURE │ Milling Logs │ Creating Pasture

This week marked the start of our forest conversion to pasture project. We are thinning some forest to start establishing silvopasture. The trees will be turned into firewood, fence posts and lumber depending on size.

Ash makes beautiful lumber and it is super strong. I love how it smells, too. Great plan and barter is best!

This is the dream! My partner and I hope desperately to be able to live like this one day; a property in the woods with land and being as self-sustained as possible. I so admire you for all the hard work you do at your place and how you live, it's inspiring to witness! Cutting those trees looked like so much fun hahaha though most of all I'd love to drive one of those trucks, awesome!! And those finished logs were so stunning! use the live trees as fence posts. look it up on youtube. there is a way to do it without damaging the trees long term. or you could cut some at 5 feet and use them. but the live ones will last longer.

Very cool! We live in the woods too, and I've been looking into silvopasture as well. I want to raise our own hogs and have a dairy cow at some point.

Thats awesome! The northwoods are the way to go 😆 And it seems like you will have an easier time than us if you have pigs, they will turn that into grass in no time! We are getting quotes on forestry mulching to come in and clean up this whole area for us! That would be so cool, we could have multiple acres cleared and grass growing in an afternoon!
