I saw Matt and Jonathan in the trailer, so I watched it. I've known them in Magic Mike and Brigerton series. After watching the first episode. I didn't expected that there will be steamy scenes in here. Because I didn't it was a book and I know nothing about it. It was suprisingly good. Now I know why people wanted Matt to be Christian Grey. He is really good at making a realistic bed scenes with his co-actors. 😂

@@hunterpope9028it’s complicated. Historically, when lgbtq+ characters were finally ‘allowed’ to be in movies and tv, they still didn’t hire lgbtq+ characters. So it was hypocritical that gay characters were ok but gay actors were not. So, movie companies had to hire gay people to play gay characters because their alternative was problematic. Nowadays, that doesn’t happen to the same extent, so we could hire straight/cis people to play lgbtq+ characters, but it’s a controversial topic since historically, doing so was problematic. Sadly, since homophobia is still heavily ingrained in society, we have this issue. I too would love a world where homophobia wasn’t an issue, thus, no one would care what sexuality an actor or character has, but sadly homophobia is an issue. Maybe not to the same extent, but it hasn’t gone away enough to solve this.

Actually, glad you asked. One of the story lines added in this adaptation of the original novel (which I believe is a lesbian-free zone) is in fact "a lavender scare era lesbian love story" -- a subsidiary story, but a very good one.
