There is a lot more luck attached to doing Chaos Wastes then Adventure Mode. I firmly believe that the core of the game is in Adventure Mode, mainly the Skittergate Campaign, and that is what most people are going to play starting out. As such it is where most people will learn the basics of Vermintide and where I want most of my videos to take place in. You have to rely on not just the basics when you go into Chaos Wastes, but also the hopes that you'll get the boons you need to keep going, not to mention the bots get neutered in Chaos Wastes and aren't capable of getting boons themselves, so they get out outpaced more and more as the expedition goes on. It's not impossible to do solo Cata runs in Chaos Wastes, but it is incredibly difficult, especially depending on which career you try to do it with. I see Battle Wizards most often achieve such success soloing Chaos Wastes on Cataclysm but that's just me personally. The fact that you got to the end of a Chaos Wastes run on Cataclysm, and by yourself with just the bots, means you certainly aren't a bad player. Most people wouldn't even make it pass the first map so give yourself more credit. Just remember that the difficulty ceiling that Vermintide is capable of is damn near endless. Don't burn yourself out on the frustration of extra difficult content unless you are having fun doing so of course. Good luck to you!

If you ever manage to get Battle Wizard with both Lingering Flames, and Famished Flames, her damage potential is unlike anyone else. The only thing you'll really struggle with are monsters but that becomes a game of kiting and blocking. You gotta be careful of course since they'll be hard aggro'ed on you because of the DOT ticks, so maneuvering around other enemies and trying to take them out simultaneously while kiting the monster will usually be the make or break in a situation most of the time. But when all you have to focus on is who's on fire and who's not, the game operates a little differently and is much easier in my opinion. Good luck

So, there's something that's been ticking off my nose for a long while about Cataclysm with Bots... I see your videos, you're obviously a good player, but your kill count doesn't seem to surpass 1000 often (or, does it?) when doing it. My experience, has been... different I don't think you care about these details, but I'm giving them so that you don't think my experience has been the way it has because of gear, or lack of skill. I have 1600 hours, all bots equipped with reds, and bonuses meant for them. I have a good amount of reds already. Anyway, what's been going on, is that, when *I* play, I seem to get double the numbers of everything (mostly specials and elites) other people I see on KZbin get. In a lot of matches I end up with like 1500+ total kills (when I get the win), usually 70-120 elites, 40-50 specials (kills by me). Levels feel 'spammy', Gas-Rats, Flamethrowers, Blightstormers over, and over, and over... and over. Every horde will include a couple of Hook-Rats (in order). Every special has a good number of tightly-timed appearances. I was just playing Festering Grounds, reached the monolith, on the second cave of buboes, the game will send a bunch of Stormvermin with Berserker enemies, accompanied by a Flame Rat, or Hook-rat, beating one of this hordes isn't enough, soon later it will come again, I was reviving my bots over and over because they would not withstand this, and I swear, the game *did not* want me to win, a horde composed of what seemed to be a bunch of fodder enemies, 8 Plague Monks (or their chaos counterpart), 8 Stormvermin, and occasional Assassins or Hook-rats would be repeated soon after being cleared off, probably indefinitely until all buboes were popped. Since I was on modded realm, I revived myself when knocked down. It just wasn't doable, I deleted the same hordes over and over until they finally beat us. Didn't help that the bots like to be at the wooden bridge for some reason. Now, what could be causing this? I believe it is my performance - I play on a humble GTX 1050, I get 35-40 fps with dense enemy numbers on low settings, and it just seems like Cataclysm just starts to spam when you don't have super high FPS, since, on average, I get these spammy matches, then I see KZbin videos with people winning with 400-600 total kills, and I'm like, *w h a t?* I haven't seen this addressed much, when it is, people say it's the total opposite, but no, that is not true. (Sorry about the long comment, I'm a little on edge)

It can be easy to get stuck in a "death spiral" in certain areas of a map or throughout, where you are feeling overwhelmed by the enemy numbers and don't keep pace with advancing the map/objective, you run low on resources, your bots eventually go down, and then sometimes, so do you. I take on average about ~28-30 minutes to complete most of these missions and that's usually me taking my time to explore the map and willingly engage enemies. Some people speed run them and complete them even faster in around ~20 minutes or less by dragging hordes or monsters through a map as far as they can take them or into certain areas where the game has to abide by certain rules it places upon itself in how it spawns enemies (for example, some areas in a map don't spawn any enemies at all, and some areas only spawn a very specific set or number of enemies). I have some games where I am posting up the numbers you describe yourself getting, but those games are usually my longer ones, at 35+ minutes. Check out this lucky game where I finish in less than 16 minutes because the game didn't spawn any Monsters or Patrols to slow me down. It's on Cataclysm but the stats make it look like I just finished a game on Legend: kzbin.info/www/bejne/aHK3qGSZjamdhMk You could be lingering too long in some areas or backtracking too much, causing more hordes for you to fight than necessary which can quickly inflate your numbers. I have an upcoming Engineer game on the same map you mention, Festering Ground, that I've yet to upload that is 37 minutes long. I have over 1300 kills, 75 specials, and over 130 elites. When you are taking too long in a game for any reason, whether it be you are struggling, or the map is just long, it is inevitable that you will post up these kinds of numbers. Have you recorded how long these missions are taking you? Are they longer than 35+ minutes? I have another game coming up that is 40 minutes long and again, the numbers in that game are very high, 1300 kills, 70+ specials, 130 elites. You say you have 1500+ kills so I'm a little under in that category, I suspect though it may be because you are compensating for your bots going down a lot and having to do more of the work. Also, are you using the same bots I am using with the same setups? My bots pull a lot of weight quite often, and very rarely go down so they detract from some of my numbers as well in all categories. How the game spawns enemies definitely has nothing to do with your FPS. Try recording how long your average game is taking you. If it is longer than 35+ minutes, the numbers you describe are not out of the ordinary, especially if your bots are going down and you are having to pull extra weight. If they are less than 35 minutes, maybe around my usual time of 28-30 minutes, but your bots are still very often going down, it is still not unusual to be forced to post up such numbers to make up the difference of the bots not pulling as much weight.

@@CataTide > [Recordings] I don't record my games due to storage space issues, but the matches do feel kind of long often, yes. > [Enemy Numbers] Well, recently I had a run with two mates on War Camp, we were getting quite the numbers on the very beginning, as if the AI director cranked up the intensity level to the top from the start. If it's not that on lower frames you get more, it might be that they spawn earlier or something. I will test your Bot builds, and I'm looking forward to your Engineer video, that game I had yesterday on that very map seemed unbeatable, I'm not velsix. I do try to be everywhere at once with my Bots, so to say, which as you pointed out, is quite possibly dragging me down. You did mention areas where the game is set to not allow that much 'traffic', hey, I'm really curious about that, do you know the ones? Anyway, thank you very much for the response.

@@jeansynklar386 Just record the time, like look at your phone before you start a match and take note of how long you've been in game when you are finished. Most Legend missions should only take 15-20 minutes, and I think that's the sweet spot. Cataclysm can start to feel overwhelming compared to that in terms of time spent in game. Any game over 35 minutes in my opinion is going to start to feel like a slog. I too have had games where it seems like the AI director halves some of the timers for hordes or specials spawning. I sometimes wonder if it is because they act as the "triggers" for a map. Instead of a certain patrol or monster spawning at a certain point, you get extra "Roaming"/Ambient enemy spawns, extra specials, or extra hordes. Sort of like what you see in the Chaos Wastes but on regular maps. I can confirm for you it is not anything to do with FPS. Sometimes maps seem more difficult then usual. I've taken notice of the difficulty spike, failed, looked at the stats for the game and said to myself that was a ton of specials for just being half way through the map. And when I run the map again, it'll feel more normal. Take for example, War Camp. Once you get inside the Camp at the end, specials stop spawning, enemies become fixed infantry inside the Fort. Mission of mercy, the mid event in the brewery and the finale area don't spawn anything until you trigger the events. Trail of Treachery doesn't spawn anything in the finale area until you trigger the event. Once you get to the finale area in Righteous Stand, spawns tend to quiet down. Almost every map has some area which are safe spots where timers for enemies are halted. The game sometimes may give you an encouraging "boost" by sending a wave of infantry at you if you are lingering in a safe area for too long, but you might take note that it's smaller than usual. Some people will speed through the map because it quite literally will mean you face less enemies since hordes and specials are on a fixed timer throughout most of the map that are constantly counting down to the next wave that spawns them. I don't recommend this in a team setting though, you should stick together as you move through a map and not leave each other behind. But you shouldn't be lingering around in areas for longer than you need to neither. Try to constantly be pushing the map even during hordes if you can manage. If a horde spawns behind you for example, drag them along until they crash into you and only then fight them. Don't backtrack or wait around for them. Same for specials. If they aren't impeding your path forward, just keep moving forward.

@@CataTide Will keep in mind that of the duration. Given the failure rate, I've not felt like moving quickly because it's had adverse effects, but finding oneself without knowing what to do besides fighting what one's been met with, is highly unideal, and I have that a lot.

@jeansynklar386 I completely understand what you mean, and you'll find in most of my videos I've been uploading that I am no stranger to mistakes. I make them quite often especially because I'm trying to non-chalantly talk while I play, and a lot of my experience is built on countless failures. I hope by demonstrating how you can recover from those mistakes or what action in any given situation you could/should be making, that I can help provide a blueprint for you to improve your own gameplay, and most importantly, have more fun playing Vermintide and slapping some rats. The game is definitely intense sometimes, but no one should feel on edge from playing it, unless of course they like that kind of punishment. To each their own XD
