The new mic was good, very clear sound. A local felting group, it depends on your catchment but whats not to love, felting in public,raising awareness of the craft, with like minded friends and coffee…wish I lived nearer.

Congratulations on getting into Holmfirth Art week Pippa. I love the sheep and cows you have been making and also good to hear you explain the pricing. A lot of people have no appreciation of what goes in to making a handmade piece. Glad to hear your shoulder is feeling a bit better. I had a similar problem with mine and the massages are agony! I wish i was closer as a felt and chat sounds great. I have also been watching the liongate farm videos, they are very good x

Hi Nicola, lovely to hear from you, I do miss chatting and felting. Yes, the massages aren't fun, still can't believe it's all caused by a simple relaxing craft. Loving liongate videos, really gorgeous creations. Pricing is quite scary sometimes, can't believe £130 is only just covering it! Getting too attached to my felts so don't mind if they don't sell for a bit 😄, take care xx

Hi pippa, may i ask where you purchased your new hand carder? the little highland cow is really beautiful. i watch Karen at lions gate farm, she makes some really cute little things. You are doing brilliantly in the felting word, keep up the good work, it’s starting to pay off, and look at your subscriber numbers, wow congratulations 👏🏻 i’m so happy for you. my aunt has given me absolutely loads of raw fleece from some of her north Ronnie sheep ranging from cream to black and all the rich brown coloured in between, also have some Dartmoor lambs wool. my aunt and uncle were the ones who saved the grey faced Dartmoor sheep from extinction, she is the secretary for the trust and also they are both judges for many agricultural shows all over the country, she’s had a few grand champions over the years, she named one Sidney Drago 😂 he was a superb sheep, very gentle. At one point she had around 75 GFD and north Ronnie, i bet that fleece you got from your friend was a descendent of one of her sheep, it can be traced back in the pedigrees. Take care, love from yorkshire lass. 😊 🤗

I have collected a fleece from my sheep (dorsetxmerino) and the wool is usually used for carpet making. I’ve never felted before or even processed one before. I’ve washed it and it’s full of burrs and prickles. So when it dries I’ll pick through it and then card it with paddles I’ve ordered. It’s going to be a labour of love. Not sure how Itl felt. I mostly want to make dryer balls but would love to do some little felted sheep. Any suggestions?
@feltsbyphilippa
@feltsbyphilippa Жыл бұрын
Once cleaned and carded it should felt OK, the merino might make it fine and it could take a little longer to felt down, here's one of my sheep video on creating different coats plus also check out my sheep tutorials, hope it goes well xx kzbin.info/www/bejne/q3Kxep-kj8ibqqc

All the things you havent included in the price of your sheep or business. Heat, electricity, machines like the carder, accountancy fees, petrol, business car insurance, car mot, other car expenses felting needles, new microphones, business insurence, you also get taxed on your postage, business cards, flyers, stands for your stalls and other paraphernalia. Cost of using your phone. National insurence contributions There are so many things to think about in a bigger picture and I hope your accountant has included these added axpenses in the year end figures. I wouldn't be without my accountant and have had one for over 40 years now. However, at the end of the day if your happy with your take home pay at the end of the month, your actual profits thats all that really counts. Some things are quicker and you make more money and some things take decidedly longer and arent.
