That's beautiful. Love how the woodgrains follow the woman's curves, especially around the hips. The look of confidence is definitely achieved by her stance. They say that people who have their arm crossed in front of their chest are closed off, try to keep others at a distance that way. This is the opposite. Very beautiful sculpture.

Nice work.. you got the woodgrains to align very nicely around the busts, which accentuate them very artistically.

Thank you! I was hoping there would be no cracks, but alas, this is wood not plastic. Especially with entire logs cracking is inevitable and all you can do is minimise it using some trickery.

I use a small handheld propane torch. The kind they use to solder plumming with. I find it a bit to small actually, next time I'll get a bigger one (large surfaces take ages).

Beautiful work. Can you also use wet wood for processing or you have to wait until it dries?
@Wayoutthere11 жыл бұрын
Thank you :) I usually use wet wood, I can't 5 years for it to dry. It carves better to when wet. I accept cracks, and try and minimize them by for example cutting a slot in the back to the wood can move.

'Go Viking', haha that cheered me up. :p I hope getting a chainsaw will allow you tackle large sculptures like the cat, only 3x times as fast! The wood was Thuja (white cedar) btw.
