Media nicknames interesting -- definitely affect public perception, but I suspect they also stem from overall cultural resistance to image of women as violent -- media members like to think of themselves as "objective," but they are as bias-subject as the rest of us.... We can't know details of head injury, obviously, but Daniel Amen has made some interesting observations (brain scans, etc.) re: temporal lobe impingements and the sudden emergence of violence - ?... Detection probably has increased, but my sense is that our societal prohibitions/taboos against violence have decreased, also, over a similar period...?

In my country the informal name for a man working as a nurse is "male nurse" whereas for women it's just "nurse". People tend to refer to people with outstanding characteristics because it makes it easier to identify them that way. "male nurse" is named that because there aren't many male nurses and female serial killers are named with reference to their gender because they're not common either.

@amandarios4485 жыл бұрын
Internalized/inwards agsression in borderline people, might be coming from feelings of selfhatred or low self-esteem. & For avoidant I'd say the same, but may also include a lack of skills in coping with certain stimuli or social situations when they feel overwhelmed & don't have the tendency to seek out to socialize. So in any case these "negative" feelings keep boiling inside & they will end up lashing out somewhere

I wonder if they go undetected not so much because they are women but because their motives don't make scene. Like guy hates women guy has dead hooker in basement that makes scenes, but women can't stand suffering so she becomes a nurse where she is around suffering all day but wants to help so she helps buy killing so they are happy when they are dead. That is very hard to wrap your head around so I can see how that wouldn't stand out like rage or sex would.

@The Real Deal Not all though... killers like Israel Keyes and Joseph DeAngelo (Goldenstate Killer) definitely looked for a challenge since they went out of their way to target couples in home invasion type scenarios that left them extremely vulnerable to counterattack including restraining the man without killing him, and then making him watch the assault of the female. Zodiac also did that. I'm leaving Berkowitz (Son of Sam) and Ramirez (Nightstalker) out here, because while they also targeted couples, in Son of Sam's case he was just shooting people by surprise while they were in their cars so there was never really any elevated risk to him in targeting couples. And Ramirez was just a nutjob breaking into random homes totally recklessly and blind so I don't think he specifically targeted couples for the thrill, I think its just that most people live with a partner, so he frequently encountered couples during his crimes. And it seems like he always tried to execute the man first to get him out of the way when that did happen.

I think a huge factor is that of the role of women in our society, women still don't have the freedom that men have, most women are reluctant to enter a bar on their own. Men can travel alone for work or for pleasure, in fact have complete liberty. I wonder how many women are victims, judged by a killer for breaking these norms. I don't know but are women more likely to self harm than harm others, turn their anger towards themselves?

So the truth about that is, as in the Ragan and Emily rose sitations, psych drugs made the girls and people worse, leading to psychotic religious delusions. This causes mass hysteria among the faithful about demons. Think the crucible, and the fear of witches, and satan. Get people go yo Mass,church,just like visions of saints and jesus in an area. Fear and group think, is a money maker. Its tragic. The girls were staved, were subject to physical restains, and some people validate the whole sick process by making victims of religious furver, saints. Terrible. The church needs some freaks to draw in the crowds, so expect some "visionaries" to come out of the wood work, bc they are being encouraged as the church redirects peoples attention to the spooky shit, and away from child fucking priests and nuns.

When he was in his (20's) he joined a church, became a MISSIONARY!!! and moved to MOROCCO....really! He travelled between Massachusetts and Morroco. Somewhere in this he met and married my Grandmother. She was older than him. Quickly the marriage became highly violent, and super destructive. Her family begged him NOT to marry Harry, but she did anyway. They had MY Other and no other children. According to (2) Female relatives, said she was NOT beaten but was manipulated, and over protected and also manipulated by her Father against her Mother. Neither grandparents had any formal higher education. My Grandfather brought women home, left the marriage multiple times, tortured animals, attacked his own brother with a shovel and nearly killed him, in h their youth. Harry, my Grandfather was sent to the US multiple times, by his own parents to "get rid of him". He beat his wife, senseless repeatedly. When my Mother reached adulthood, she joined the US Army and became a NNURSE!!!! Of course she did! There are no better child abusers in the world, than NURSES! She came out of World War II, married my Father (WW II shell shocked Veteran) and continued the reign of terror that he Father has d started. She beat her (2)oldest children to the ground, often. The oldest boy, she pulverized! She stalked her children, broke their spirits, stared them, neglected them medically, and during all of this time she was working in Boston as a Registered, Licensed Nurse. So, here is my question? Why are women who are deeply abused as children, drawn to the Nursing Profession? I know sooooooo many of them who fi this pattern and profession.

I wonder how divergent from the average population the female serial killers studied were? During the period of time surveyed, who did women have access to, how far could they travel, and which jobs could they do? I'm also interested in the length of time they were active, which points to difficulty detecting these killers. Is the sample skewed by how obvious they were - a sort of women-with-autism-arent-noticed issue but obviously. Much worse.

I think the longer duration is because females are seen as nurturing or not as strong as men so are overlooked.

I'm struck by women killing for money, which is for security, and "nesting" instincts. At the end of the day women can and will tolerate all kinds of absurd behaviour from their spouses, but if you endanger the "nest", the house, you or they are GONE. !!!

Decades ago, I read a book about Ted Bundy, and then advised other people to avoid reading it. I have a defensive interest in psychopaths, but it ends there, I think, and doesn't last long. I just read the Wikipedia page on Nannie Doss, and her upbringing was brutal, in a word, and probably prepared her for, or predisposed her to, her criminal career; as a girl and a woman, she suffered terribly at the hands of men. The sordid details of these miserable lives are often too depressing to behold for long, and I usually quickly change the channel or the subject. Nonetheless, a statistical perspective is helpful and stabilizing and worth hearing. The number for females seemed surprisingly high. I worked for years in proximity to the social stratum in which these kinds of crimes usually take place, but I managed to steer clear of the worst of it; these kinds of crimes usually happen in deeply chaotic social situations, and so it's best to avoid them when you see them, as I tried to do. Thanks for the insights.

Thank you Dr Grande. Well, I learned something new! I didn’t know there were female serial killers, but from your video they sound almost methodical in manner of whom they kill. For me it was shocking to watch the Netflix documentary on Women Behind Bars, and call it naivety on my part, but the idea of females being so vicious, secretive, manipulative and outright cold blooded was a shock. I’ll have to look up this subject now as I’ve never heard of this “Nanny”. How to wrap our minds around these serial killers is mind boggling. In the Netflix documentary one woman said as she was murdering someone that inside herself she didn’t want to be doing it but it was as if she was driven by something. Is that a psychosis? Serial killing women *shaking my head*. Thank you, and have a happy day ☺️

I've seen a number of documentaries where the woman killers said that they experienced orgasms when they killed i.e. Leslie vanhouton , 2, I don't remember their names but one was executed she said when she struck the guy with the pickaxe she orgasmed and one who stabbed to death a polish man on a supposed date then her landlord slash married boyfriend ,then 2 seperate guys walking their dogs.

OMG! Now I'm suspicious of all nurses! I think female crimes have much to do with impulse too. I tend to think females are more emotional than men. So typically the Mad Granny killed everyone she had problems with!!! Your videos are a great distraction from the everyday struggles. Although a frightening topic, I found this video quite amusing. Thanks DC! I never understood why they give them, these fancy nicknames.
