Idk whenever I hear Feminist v Catholic argument I think of this one quote. I don't remember it exactly but it was something like this. "God created woman not from man's head to lord over him, nor from man's feet to be trod over by him, but from his side, to walk by him." I also don't remember who said this, but I just really like this quote a lot.

I love the conversation. Very informative. Not over the top. It is interesting Feminism began with Alcoholism. I never knew that. I was thinking about what it would be like today if only Men could vote. I just thought about how they invented so many things that allowed Women to have more time. Mother Angelica said the Worst thing that happened to Women was Soap Opera's. They stopped praying. They stopped attending daily Mass. What if we had to go back to making things from scratch? This Feminism would really be a disease. It would paralyze Women. Just a thought

I highly recommend other Catholics read a somewhat obscure criticism of feminism that comes from, wait for it, a Russian social democrat (meaning Marxist) named Alexandra Kollontai, called "On the Social Basis of the Women Question." "Leaving it to the bourgeois scholars to absorb themselves in discussion of the question of the superiority of one sex over the other, or in the weighing of brains and the comparing of the psychological structure of men and women, the followers of historical materialism fully accept the natural specificities of each sex and demand only that each person, whether man or woman, has a real opportunity for the fullest and freest self-determination, and the widest scope for the development and application of all natural inclinations. The followers of historical materialism reject the existence of a special woman question separate from the general social question of our day. Specific economic factors were behind the subordination of women; natural qualities have been a secondary factor in this process. Only the complete disappearance of these factors, only the evolution of those forces which at some point in the past gave rise to the subjection of women, is able in a fundamental way to influence and change their social position. In other words, women can become truly free and equal only in a world organised along new social and productive lines."

The nuclear family where men have sole legal rights to property and even the right to physically abuse and control their wives is not traditional, but bourgeois. This is the family Marxists object to. Collective childrearing, traditionally done by older siblings, grandparents, aunt and uncles, friends of the family, older cousins, is the actual traditional form of the family, which is unsustainable in capitalism, despite capitalism socializing production. Working women need daycares and schools to help them raise their kids or they can't work enough to support their families, because capitalism is constantly driving down wages while cutting social services and commodifying what were once services rendered by custom. I've yet to see any Western/first world/anglophonic "Catholic" deal with this reality, which is why liberation theology is the default in poor countries. Fundamentally, leaving aside manipulative Cold War, Randian, and Satanic scare mongering about "the state," lets us actually come to terms with the world as it is, with what the state/govt really is. Its a disservice to our failing Church to keep on a path that betrays the duty we have to ourselves and everyone else to simply tail behind capitalist-imperialist propaganda, which is all the Chruch has been doing for decades, so much so when we get s Pope mildly critical of this Satanic system people, especially in capitalist-imperialist states, can't recognize real Christianity when it's there on St Pete's own throne. Socialists

@@realdealreds2578 you can not be a Catholic and a socialist. It has been condemned. You only value people for their material output. It is why you want parents to not raise their children (violating what God wants in the process), but to instead collectivize child rearing, and thereby make it easier for demons to find children to abuse. What you are proposing is straight up evil.
@realdealreds2578

@@VACatholic child rearing is traditionally collective, with tradition, not individual parents, being the ultimate authority. It is you who pushes modern, bourgeois individualism, which is indeed evil. Socialism is what Christianity looks like in industrial society, just as the peasant commune is what Christianity looked like during feudalism. I don't care if it was condemned, to be honest. I'm tired of being told by both secular and religious leaders to read the Bible, to look at our traditions, not to actually realize them in the here and now but just to pad their coffers and help them fulfill secular, geopolitical, and professional ambitions. It's extremely significant to me we get a pope like Francis, who does try to practice Christianity within the contexts of Capitalism and imperialism, and all these bourgeois "Christians" can't stand it. The Catholic Sandinistas are some of the only legit Catholics left and we're supposed to condemn them for actually being Christians

@@realdealreds2578 > child rearing is traditionally collective, with tradition, not individual parents, being the ultimate authority This is how you tell me you're not Catholic. Let me remind you of the 4th commandment: "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which the Lord your God gives you." You're speaking complete nonsense, but at least you're sure of yourself. >Socialism is what Christianity looks like in industrial society, just as the peasant commune is what Christianity looked like during feudalism. No. Because Christianity doesn't value material goods as the most important thing to a person, unlike you. That's why there was even slavery, and Christ said that slaves should honor their masters, as the masters should honor them. Because they did not see economic output as being particularly important to holiness. You need to reject the materialist frame you've put over everything. It's bad for your soul and makes it impossible for you to see reality. >I don't care if it was condemned, to be honest. Then please, do not call yourself Catholic. And do not be surprised when Catholics reject your materialist garbage as the evil that it is. Rather than caring about money so much, why don't you actually start by understanding your philosophical presuppositions (metaphysics, ontology, epistemology, etc), and understand why you reject the Catholic Church. Once you have a coherent argument against that, we can discuss it. Until then, your opinion is facile.

Feminism latches onto other ideologies cause women exist. If there is a philosophy, most women care about how it affects them. Hence a feminist take is formed. It is not parasitic at all. To characterize it as such, as in this video, shows a fundamental lack of how ideas are formed.

Obviously some people misuse the ideology, but that's true of basically any ideology: Christianity, Islam, capitalism, socialism, etc. The central tenet behind feminism is the advocacy of women's rights as fundamental equals to men. Note that this does not mean women and men are literally identical like so many would like to believe. It is advocating for equal citizenship and moral standing, not literal identicalism. The first wave of feminism was based around the women's suffrage movement. How exactly is that powerless and pathetic?

First wave was about women's suffrage, property rights, and political inclusion; second wave was about accessing contraception and sexual liberation; third wave is about individualism and diversity; fourth wave is about combating sexual harassment, assault, and misogyny. (these are broad categories so bear that in mind). Now where do you draw the line? I would like to think most of you here would approve of the goals of at least first wave feminists. Surely? Feminism has done way more harm than good. We need to get rid of it to protect who we are as women. Transgenderism has done more harm towards women than anything else, with the exception of abortion. Brainwashing and gaslighting women into thinking that anyone is a woman is a travesty. Brainwashing women into thinking they are a man is a travesty…to the point where they are willing to mutilate their bodies. It’s done just as much harm as the brainwashing done to women to convince them that their baby isn’t real and that killing them is the correct thing to do. Feminism has convinced men and women that our fertility is a huge obstacle and should be destroyed. It’s convinced men and women that killing a baby is a convenience needed to have sex. It’s convinced men that they are women and that women are men.

Jeez, this is a crazy misrepresentation. To say that abortion amd birth control exists so women can avoid pregnancy and be more like men - it's just not true of most people. A lot of women just want options to control when they are pregnant, not to avoid pregnancy or rearing children entirely. Certainly, its not to be more like men. Is not wanting children a male thing? No, it's obviously a person thing. Some people, male or female or whatever, just don't want kids. Women do not have to push out babies to be valuable members of society. Im sure a ton of women would love to be stay at home moms if they didn't have to work to live. Part of this is the capitalist society we live in which does not allow many women to afford an unplanned pregnancy.

My friend you sound very hurt against women I will pray for you but if your referring to the Faith in this statement it is False and not what we believe somethings are true others not . First men and women where Created eqaul and are eqaul, however they were not Created the same and are different in each there own Good and beautiful way . What you mean when you refer to Power is not clear but it is true that men in biology are greater then women in Physical strength but Power can be found in many different strengths and weakness . To say that we are somehow to be treated as Greater to them is wrong for as you earlier said we are Equal in VALUE and we should act accordingly . Indeed in the women was made in the image of man and she is the Glory of man and man is the Glory of God but she is also the Glory of God if she reflects Man because we are the Glory of God likewise as women relies on man for strength God also made it the we rely on them for Life and nourishment we need to be born and cared for to Develop . It is true God established us as natural leaders and a true leader or Shepard is that which reflects Christ and lays down his Life for others (not as you imply a pagan leader who lords over those under his power, Punishing those who appose him) so if you believe we are leaders then you ought to treat your wife with Loving respect and care as Christ Did and he is God we are nothing in comparison and he protected our dignity and led us to his Love . And indeed women are equal so they also excel in some areas more than us in which we can learn from each sex should respect the beauty of the other as it was Created Good and Equal.

Just like how the church respects Christ's authority, so to should a wife submit herself and respect her husbands authority. I think there’s no such thing as a good feminism. For one men and women are different and have different expectations and responsibilities placed on them for that reason so them having precisely the same rights doesn’t make sense unless they had precisely the same responsibilities which has never been the case in any civilization ever. Secondly, all of the crazy or bad types of feminism would never have been serious contenders for social change in any meaningful sense, without the first wave of “reasonable” demands.

The correct verse is 1 Timothy 2:12 "I permit no woman to teach or to have authority over a man; she is to keep silent." The Church understands this to specifically prohibiting them from the teaching and governing ministry exclusively reserved to the ordained clergy. I would advise you to put it into context, since St Paul also has on Romans 16:1 "I commend to you our sister Phoebe, a deacon of the church at Cenchreae," and the Bible does not contradict itself. In Acts 18:26, both Priscilla and Aquila instructed Apollo "He began to speak boldly in the synagogue; but when Priscilla and Aquila heard him, they took him aside and explained the Way of God to him more accurately. " Deacons primarily served bishops-writing letters, assisting in proclaiming the gospel, representing the bishop, and serving the poor and needy on the bishop’s behalf. Phoebe was a working intellectual catholic woman, still rightly restricted from teaching and governing ministry exclusively reserved to the ordained clergy.
