OMG Thank you so much for using my question ♥ I have struggled with the whole "having to look gay" Thing ever since i started to question my Sexuality. I have always been more the Tomboyish Type of Girl for the simple fact that i never liked wearing dresses or heels or any of that. I always wanted to look like the other Girls but i also was Body Shamed a lot in School so i would simply just never wear "girly" things. And where i live Lesbians would either be portrayed as Hardcore Butch ( like OITNB Boo Butch ) or as Porn Actresses and i didn't like as either. When i knew i was gay i was kinda really relieved because i didn't had to worry about that anymore because i could just look like a Tomboy and actually have a reason for it. But especially when i was online shopping and i would see nice dresses i always thought " oh if i wasnt a Tomboy i would try this" and it made me really sad because i knew that there was a Femme Side in me and i just never dared to really explore that because of this stigma of Lesbians having to look a certain way. I'm soon turning 20 and only now in these past few weeks i decided to explore myself in sense of fashion more and i'm actually sitting here in a dress and feeling comfortable with the way i look . I realised that i can be both. I won't start only wearing dresses and nobody could ever put me in heels but i like the way i'm becoming more myself everyday and actually being much more certain with my Sexuality than i ever have.
@okkmelissaa91537 жыл бұрын
this sounds like me so much!! I have days where I'm a tomboy in a tshirt and days where I look super girly in a dress. it took me so long to grow guts to wear more girly stuff though, because I didn't feel "gay enough" if I did for the longest time. the struggle is real

Hi Cammie, Thanks for getting us more representation "on screen". You ARE making a huge difference on people's lives, I'm sure you are on mine. Although I'm a bit older than you, and coming from a very religious family in a small town from SouthAmerica it really took me too much time to acknowledge and embrace who I really am. But this also gave me the opportunity to thrive in other aspects. Because I went on undetected, under the radar, so I never suffered discrimination or whatsoever in my teen or college years, nor at work... So being a femme really helped a lot in the beginning WHEN I WAS STILL SO CLOSETED. It was almost like "denial-feminism". But after I came out, by that time, I had also embraced the fact that sometimes I do like to do goofy-boyish stuff or I even boyish up my looks at times wearing a hat or a woman suit, and I feel totally comfortable with it. When I'm not wearing a dress, I can be wearing shorts and a cap and It feels so good to allow myself just to be. But now, sometimes I do get the "eyebrow-look", and many other ways of discrimination even at my job. I still don't care what they might think, I just do my job, wait and let them get to know me better, and eventually it always work out fine. So, I haven't completely got rid of the high heels, but I just wear them because of a certain "image" I need to project at work meetings, but I still feel like a Femme Lesbian and I love being one... also just to prove so many people wrong.

watching this kind of vids gives me so much hope and just reassurance. I'm bi (although I'm more into girls) and I come from a country where being anything-but-straight is still perceived as a taboo or just something that blows people's minds. Even though, I couldn't really care less what others think of me, my issue with being out and just hitting on girls is with the fact that whenever I do that, other people get crazy and treat me like they were in a zoo and I was some kind of exotic animal they've never seen. And I hate being in the centre of attention. Ghhhhhhhhhhhrrrrrrrrrrr. It's so frustrating!!

.... I'm a girl who likes to dress girly sometimes but also loves wearing a lot of stylish workout gear... some days I like to dress super girly and pretty while other days I like to be more of a tomboy... but the part I'm most confused about is that I'm sexually attracted to men but not so much romantically because I know how it ends (you're never on the same page with them, and they're never ready for what you're ready for).... My first love was a girl even though I've never been intimate with a woman at all... but honestly when I'm with men I feel like I do it more for show, like I like it when people comment and call us a cute couple etc, like I like making people jealous... but when I'm attracted to a woman and into a woman, I don't care what other people say, it's almost like no one else matters... I think I'm gay...

speaking as a very fem woman who, for the most part, has always been very bi, I have to tell a story after these videos hehe I've watched a few of yours now Cammie... and also have to say thank you!! But.. to my story.... :) I was in a local bar and noticed a very unassuming woman (buzz cut, flannel, black jeans lol) sitting alone with her beer, and for whatever reason, she *really* caught my interest. Over the next year, I spent a lot of time talking with her there, engaging in conversations, inserting comments that I thought were obvious that I was into her.. to no avail *sigh* including leaning over at one point and telling her (because i do present very fem aka 'straight') that "just so you're aware, I'm what you might consider to be situationally bi" STILL nothing (good grief! LOL) but.. to cut an entire year of changing my outfits 50 times before leaving for the club.. just in case she was there.. and a looooot of wondering wtf do I have to do to make her see I am definitely interested in her...we have now recently celebrated our one year anniversary, and honestly could not be happier! And no... I do not still see men, and am not 'missing' anything.. in fact, I have been nothing but enriched in all facets since. Literally cannot picture my life without her in it :) She claims that her first thoughts of me were (and I do understand) that I was simply an older woman (twice her age actually!) who likes hanging out in gay bars.... and that she was simply being 'respectful' in not taking me up on any of my offers LOL me.. and most of the people we know agree that she was more along the lines of oblivious than respectful (love you Steph!) sorry for the long-windedness.. but this video reminded me specifically of that time, and how difficult it was not only in my own brain (she's so young.. I do definitely enjoy men.. wtf am I doing??! hey.. wait.. I looooove her!) but reactions from strangers.. not so much family, thank goodness.. they have all been very accepting, and are very happy I am very happy :)

I feel like it's so hard to find other girls who are lesbian and femme. I relate to you so much it's so refreshing! 😊😊💕

Hey Cammie! I really liked your video, because I have the same struggles all the time. As a femme lesbian, attracted to femmes as well it's so hard to explain yourself to the world all the time... I would never change myself just to be "visible". So nobody should do that. Acceptance is everything. By the way, you are so damn beautiful! :) Greetings from Germany

Sometimes I get caught up in relationship roles bc I'm a femme and my gf is smaller than me and for some reason when people say I'm the boy in the relationship for that reason or bc I'm clingy, it makes me mad but this video made me feel good. We both have factors of being the 'boy' and 'girl' in it as does every couple. :)) Thank you, I subbed immediately.

Just watched an episode of orphan black, and when the "man in the relationship" thing came up, i thought of Alison and Donny! 😄"I may be a bitch, but i'm Alison's bitch" Donny said once lol.

My now wife, is pretty feminine, so when we got engaged, she proposed and everyone was so taken aback that I didn't do it because I'm the less feminine one in the relationship. Gotta love ignorance!

i LOVE what you said about stereotypical traditional gender roles. my boyfriend and i joke all the time about how i'm the "man" and he's the "woman" in our relationship.... even though he's very "manly" looking and i'm very "femme" looking. emotionally - we're just very in tune with that "other" side of us, and it REALLY comes out in our relationship. i'm more goal orientated- and he's more emotional orientated. it's a lovely switch up for me - which is why i'm gonna marry the crap outta him ;D
