Great video and I like your design. I wish I watched this before a racked my brain trying to come up with a design. I went with 16” pieces and 32” sides. I ripped my 2x4s like yours and then used the off cuts to cap the top. I used the off cuts just to cover the end grain of the vertical boards. I’m not sure what you call it but it just sat on top like a crown. I didn’t like the end grain and edge grain mix, it looked unfinished and I didn’t want to go back to the store for one more board lol. I’m going to check out your other videos. This was explained well and easy to understand. Thanks for the great video.

Nice piece. A few suggestions: The roof could be attached with exterior wood glue and brad nails, that would be fine because there is no weight. The same for the walls, attach to the frame with exterior wood glue and brad nails. I’m not sure if the roof supports needed to be that long. There isn’t any significant weight UNLESS you decide to use it to hang plants. Otherwise, it’s not load bearing, so you could shorten the two sides but keep it the same height. I hope that makes sense. I think I’ll build a version of this, with a few minor changes.

A lot of angels. Good work! I would have angeled the top, it would look better. But very nice work,

Use your speed square to make a 30 degree line on the board then move the miter saw to match that line. Once you have that set you can move the needle to match the 30 on the saw.

Very nice

You could simplify your roof if you would make a 45-degree cut on each of the Center Post and then join that with the roof supports on each side and that would alleviate havibg to put those long overhang pieces in the center

Nice project! I skipped a lot of the video due to the amount of talking though. Please see this as constructive feedback & I'm sure the more videos you make, the better they will flow 🙂

It looks great. Only recommendations I would make is to stagger your roof for water drainage and use treated lumber for the frame or add a sealer to the untreated wood. Nice project though.

Why did you make the top two boards into a table top onstead of angling them?
@5dollarplans7 ай бұрын
Just wanted to try it and see what it would look like… Now I don’t mind the finished look but in subsequent builds I’ve always angled the boards like on a traditional roof….

Great job! Can you send me the link to the plans..I can't seem to find them on your FB page. .... .I'd like to buy a few plans after seeing your work.

I love the idea but the problems in the video clearly show that the plans are not ready yet! You should really buy more material and make a video of building a second unit where you know if there is a bottom, you know the real dimensions of everything and why they are that dimension, and do something to hide the screws in the 2x4s. Then you will have a great video!

I was doing a build once and ended up screwing the project to my bench. I picked up the wrong box of screws. Oops!

Suggestion. Start your video with an image of the finished project and use the finished image for the thumbnail. I almost just left because I had no clue what you were making. I happened to glimpse it as I fast-forwarded out of curiosity about what you were making. The end of the video is the only place to see what the heck you built.

Pocket hole for roof supports will give you plenty of material to screw into and it looks better cosmetically. Counter sink your screws and use a dowel to cover them.

Its a planter, it doesnt have to be exact. Youre not making heirloom furniture. Give ocd the boot.
