What's the approximate cost today for this sort of work?

For this repair, with the components, the Gallagher factory transformer, labor, and shipping was $300. A comparable model is $1300+/- or drop down a size and they're $775+/-. These prices are for the gallagher models and not the Mickey mouse ones out there from some order brands

WOW!!! That was a heck of a lot of work..You seem like you are extremely busy and sometimes way behind..is there any room for anyone else in the Eastern part of the country to repair these things??-John

Well, I've actually been thinking of getting out of the whole repair business and would happily sell the business off. The KZbin channel, the whole nationwide customer base, all my accounts with the different manufacturers, and most of the tools needed for these things to test and fix them. It produces a 6 figure revenue every year and has for the last 7 years. So if you and some buddies want to take this thing to the next level, selling and servicing units, I'll happily listen to offers.

@@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity I would love to but I am in no way able to do anything like that right now...I will definitely do my due diligence and see how things go...Sounds great though...-John

Fun and games ….still got all your fingers? Hey, can you tell me who sells your small 10kV meter, please. Looked around but couldnt seem to find them out there.
@FencerFixerRepairLLCKansasCity20 күн бұрын
Lol, yep I still have my fingers luckily. The analog meter I use is no longer being offered. I'm working with a company in India that is already making one fairly similar and we're going to start carrying them probably next year. You're looking at $70 for one. The good thing is, there are no batteries inside the tester. It's solely powered by the fence & ground or the fence charger itself depending on how you're testing it. So you don't have to worry about changing out worn out batteries.

It's a huge mistake to leave any part of a circuit board that had arcing on it; there is a high resistance path in the carbon that is left. You should cut away the old burnt part of the board and add a small circuit board with the new parts. With a little moisture or humidity it may start arcing again.

Jesus what a mess. Many years ago someone brought a VCR to me, hi's girl friend caught him watching porn, then she went and got a screw driver and stabbed the top of the VCR. took me 6 hours to fix the board. Now after what just happened with that big spark. I will call you " Sparky " lol nice job buddy. 😂🤣🤣🤣🤣😂😜🤪😝😂😂😂

Geeze what a story that is to tell. Hey could you repair a VCR today? I have 2 here that we've had forever and neither really function right. I think both have a metal housing vs a plastic housing. We have tapes and a TV that will still hook up to a VCR, so that's why I've never thrown them out and would be willing to at least pay the shipping to get them to you to look at.
