Dear gawd man, what incredible playing 😳 57/62 sound like a Strat....a little anemic and brittle but not in a bad way, in a Stratty way. 50s sound like a smooth Strat...wider range, seemingly, thinking increasing the distance from the strings could mimic 57/62

First, Nice playing! Second, I’ve actually had both of these pickup sets. The fat 50’s have perks as the middle pup is rwrp, and can take higher gain better, and have a “thicker” sound due to more mids. Although this was nice for some styles, it’s a sacrifice to the cleans though. I now have the 57/62 and honestly, they are my favorite strat pickups that I’ve ever tried, bar none. They honestly sound like true vintage pickups. They represent the classic strat sound. I have never looked back since acquiring these.

Personal taste. For me, the fat 50s sound too round. You can adjust eq but that never worked for me. I always felt like the sweet spot was not there. Turn up the volume and they’re louder but still too much thump and not enough attack. I switched to the 57/62s and love them. Very clear and bell like when clean and cut through the mix with a touch of gain. They just sound right and they are plenty hot.

I have fat 50s in 2 guitars I own. Next to the lollar specials these are my favorite pickups. If you like nice warm thick tones fender nailed it. Can’t speak to the 57/62 but I also have the pure vintage 59 and 65 as well. A lot brighter and vintage wound so output ain’t quite what the 50s are. But if I had to pick just 1 it would be the 50s
@fraterfraxinus62934 жыл бұрын
@@benigumo2000 I put the 57/62 in one strat and the Fat 50's in the other. The Fat 50's win, hands down. The 57/62 set nails the traditional low-output single coil Strat sound, but the Fat 50's are classic Strat steroids. It's just WOW. Fat 50's all the way.

This vid inspired me to get the 57/62s awhile back. The neck pickup is amazing, position 2 and 4 are exactly what you come to expect from a good strat. 3 is good for getting that humbucker kinda thick tone and 1 is good but you’re going to want to tie it into your tone pot to tame some of that high end

I put a set of 57/62's in a Diamond Anniversary Strat, that came equipped as an HSS. The stock HSS pup's didn't do it for me. The 57/62's have some sweet, multi-overtones that are just mesmerizing; through a good tube amp. They sound pretty decent through every amp I've tried with them.

Agree with you on that. I bought a classic vibe 50s strat and had it for about 3 months now then turned around and bought the limited edition surf pearl player series strat about a month ago. I took both guitars over to my cousin house, he plays professionally here in Dallas and Ft Worth, both he and the other guitar player in his band picked the classic vibe over the player series strat. I wound up having to help him order the 50s vibe from Sweetwater that very next day. Those classic vibes not only play great, they sound fantastic and then some. I play the 50s vibe way more than I do the player, well at least until Sweetwater sends me the 57/62s. They are on back order but I have my set already paid for, should be here sometime in Nov. They are going in the player strat to bring it up to par. I think someone was saying in the post that the don`t have the reverse wound middle pickup but they do. They are a exclusive to Sweetwater only. Have to get them from there.

The insider tip for a silky, glassy and round, bell-like, fender sound with a shot of wiry and old: Get a pickup set from a Kramer Focus 3000 manufactured in Japan until 1984, because these are APS1 manufactured by Seymour Duncan with Alnico II magnets and these pickups have aged about 35 real years! You will be blown away when you hear these pickups and still put them in a good Stratocaster such as in an ESP 400-Series Stratocaster or a BLADE Texas Standard Pro or a Texas Classic! And you don`t need an Fender Custom Shop guitar for 3000,- Dollars, or more! No, You´ve paid about 500,- to 700,- Dollar and you´re playing a guitar with custom shop qualities and characteristics, Fender cannot build for 4000,- Dollars!!!!!!!!!

I love the playability and ergonomic of strats however! I guess a compression (an others) pedal and the right EQ could go a long way. But that brittle, thin ass "glassy" sound, I am not a fan off...sigh..well I'm resurrecting the strat as an instrument for it's superior playability, but I'm going to go with two TV Jones Classics in one, and put a twang banger in the bridge of the other. The TV jones starwood strat pickups also look very promising to give a poor strat some much needed muscles. Signed, love n hate with the strat
