Finally, they are doing this guitar justice. It's the best guitar to come out in the 70s from any brand, and now we have a proper reissue. Thank you, Fender!

Thanks for the demo and review, John. I had no choice but to hunt one down after seeing your Rig Rundown with Tab Benoit. Even found myself a reissue in sunburst. Now just need to get thirty years of sweat on it! Thanks for the always-awesome videos.

Hi John, great review there dude... My buddy, "Cousin Vinny" from Brooklyn, has around 65 vintage guitars. I only have around 20 some... So, Vinny buys this 72 Vintage reissue like this. I didn't even get a chance to try it out and he sent it back for a different guitar for reasons unknown. I have two original 50's Tele's. One 56 and a 59. Love em both. Our buddy, JW fro TB and TWB wanted them years ago. Not for sale. Not even 5 figures... LOL... Anyway, back to this 72... After hearing this review, I may just grab one for fun!!! Why so expensive though? Keep up the great video work you do. One of the best for sure. Cheers!

And lastly, while some people will say I'm crazy or full of it, the tube amp sounded better! And I thought the modeling amp really sounded pretty good. But there is information coming from those pick ups that just can't be reproduced by ones and zeros. There's information between the ones and zeros that gets lost and I can hear the difference plain as day. The tube amp just has something the solid state modeling amps will likely never be able to copy.

I bought a '72 Thinline second-hand in 1982. I've owned many guitars since then, but NOTHING beats it. (I guess I should have saved my money and stuck with that one guitar only!) The pickups are incredible.

I bought one of those new around 1972/3, and it was a top guitar- the best Fender I ever had until my current Custom Shop Strat. I did sell it a couple of years later to buy a Gibson SG with P90s, but probably a bad move at the time 😞

4:42 How would you describe or what is the term for that size case you have? In comparison to the big fender cases it's nice and small and compact. I've got one my dad's had since the '70s and I'd like to get another for my Tele but for the life of me I can't figure out how to search for it.

Dude! I have a Fender Starcaster with these same pups that I bought because I wanted a guitar like the one you’re reviewing, but there were really none available at the time. It does all the same stuff this guitar does, but basically on steroids level. I actually paid more for that guitar than any of the other 32 guitars/basses/sitars/banjos that I own even though it was made in China. Check one out sometime. The offset waist is an incredible look as well.

If the pickups where not upgraded it's a regular Alnico humbucker under the cover but not the CuNiFe version, but they still voiced them nice for the Modern Player series, aswell it's a shit ton of comfy guitar 😄

Had a 71 Strat, that I heartily regret selling off back in the 90’s. It was complete with the ashtray and had been abused, but it had mojo that wouldn’t quit. I thought I needed a Strat deluxe plus……got one, didn’t bond with it. Foolish move!
