@@jaypeterson7637 They may have talked with the now retired Trev Wilkinson. In the last 4 years Leo was alive he spent every morning with him working on new ideas and talking about old ones. Leo kept ALL his notes from day one in a drawer in his shop. Trev read them all. He helped me build a 53 Tele II ....Yes before the Strat was made Leo thought there would be a Tele II ...1/2 the back half of the Tele but double cut with the bass horn looking Strat and no treble horn or really the shape of the much later Fender Jazzmaster. The head-stock was shaped like the Strat but it was the same size as the small Tele one. I had the prototype made. It is in Fiesta Red.

I’m such a Fender fan! At 64 yrs old, and 52 of them as a guitarist, I’ve only “fallen” for two Gibson’s - 60’s and 70’s (and many current) Firebirds - and, of course the 335 - 355 guitars. Otherwise all my electrics are Fender and Gretsch. (My acoustics are Martins and old Guilds) These new American built axes tempt me! And I only have three USA Fenders - the other six are all Fender Japan! All are Tele’s, Jazzmaster’s and those crazy short scale Jags! (I’m in BC Canada) As a guitar repair guy, and a builder of flat top acoustics and carved top mandolins, I’ve literally owned 100’s of instruments, maybe over a thousand! lol (but true) I’m a big big fan of the Captain and the Dane! Exactly! It bothers me so much when vintage "inspired" instruments have the wrong radius! If you want the whole vintage packet you want the original fretboard radius, even if some people think it´s unplayable... I have weird short but thick fingers with kinda big second joints which makes playing very flat fretboards very unpleasant for me, because my joint is prohibiting me from pushing down correctly all strings. Single strings are fine of course but multiple are annoying. the more rounded radius is amazing for my hands! I even love it in P basses in combination with a nice thick baseball bat neck!

I ordered a 2006 custom shop Clapton that I initially loved, but wound up not playing it all that often, and just this year sold it off and got a brownie 57....that ive been playing a lot more! The necks are very similar, but the Claptons were a bit better with no glossyness. But the 57 grew on me and now I love it. What I really love is the open natural sounding pickups versus the somewhat sterile noiseless pickups. Frankly its so good that I don't miss the treble cut and db boost anymore. Claptons brownie, for that matter, was way closer to this model. In the end, I have to say I like it better. Also bought the 51 Tele which is amazing as well.

@Timdoeswork I know I can block the trem and that's what I would do but It would be better if it didn't have the unnecessary moving parts that I don't want and need. Also I just get a kick out of strats with no tremolo.
@Zhaggysfaction2 жыл бұрын
@Timdoeswork I know many if not most of the trem systems and stabilizers, I have for example the Super Vee Blade Runner with their Mag-Lok stabilizer and and a custom build 7 string with Floyd Rose and their trem stop. Although they do give good stability, none give, obviously, the same stability than a fixed bridge does. And as I said about the moving parts, now there would be the tremolo system AND the stabilizer. Just an ease of mind kinda thing. And I have build myself, among others, a hardtail reverse strat which is fantastic. I have considered Warmoth build, well, I have several other Warmoth builds in mind. I definitely don't need the Fender on the headstock, but sometimes it's needed for futile phsycological reasons. Like if I want a Yngwie Strat or Zakk Wylde Les Paul, then it just has to be a Fender or Gibson with all the pros and cons that they have.

Whenever you´d be ready (doesn´t matter if it would take years) and you can get your own stuff again you can give it back. I would of course also sell it to you after that period for a very reasonable amount if you like it. Unfortunately the distance is seperating us quite a bit.. I hope times soon get better for you and you make more money so you can take care of your family and still can afford your hobbies. But remember, the most important thing is being healthy and having a loving family (or loving and caring frieds)! Money doesn´t make you happy, it just gives extra comfort if you have more than your basic needs covered. I have one as well. I liked the neck so much I bought a '51 neck for a project guitar thinking it might be the same. It is a little different, its a bit more beefy than the '52; so similar, but different..... BTW I'm not a parallel fan as a player , so I put in a 4 way switch w both series combos. Grounded Neck thru Bridge is clearer w better bass and treble while ground Bridge is slightly muddier emphasising the mids a little more, w a slightly stronger output. This is the general case for most Tele sets. Fender uses the Bridge thru Neck on models w 4 ways because otherwise you need a separate ground for the plate and the difference isn't huge. I do use both, but either series would be a good addition for a 4 way w parallel in the mix.

Minor historical correction to what Lee was saying - the American Vintage series actually came out in the early ‘80s and continued until a few years ago when it was replaced by the American Original series. Over the years Fender offered different AV models recreating specific years, and specs on them were much closer than the more generalized American Originals. I have an AV ‘62 P-bass that’s very close to the actual early-‘60s P-basses I’ve had the chance to play. And the early Fullerton-built AV instruments are now very sought after and command high prices in their own right.

I think ..going fwd we’ll see a few more color options on these …actually this new series is the best yet on the vintage reissue guitars ..they covered even the 70’s strats….the custom shop guitars are great I had an Aztec gold journey man relic …miss it had to sell….the flame necks on custom shop are beautiful…but remember….Leo was a thrifty guy …so the new range are definitely like a time capsule …no crazy maple flame necks ..These new ones are like buying a new 61 strat ….or 57….the blonde one is ash see through…that’s cool…Ps the 1st batch sold out quick…I was fortunate to get the slab…61 in fiesta red …it’s beautiful…..😊

These guitars are gorgeous 👏👍 They look and sound like $4000 guitars. The 61 olympic white strat is beautiful.

I've got one of the AVRI '62 Jazzmasters from 2013. Top quality guitar. Thanks to the nitro finish and a couple hundred gigs it now looks like a £4500 custom shop creation. These finishes really will gain personality over time!

Agreed. My nitro finish custom classic sunburst finish tele 2009 got a lot of personality through my clumsiness with cables, though it broke my heart at the time ( I'm a girl )

I got a 52 . It really is a great guitar to mod. And easy. I replaced the neck with a Stumac Les Paul standard. It was quite tricky but if you replace the slot head screws with a single 3" coach bolt( you will need a bigger hole) you could probably do it without even using glue which will help preserve the vintage sound . I'm going for a Ted Nugent - Andre Segovia vibe so l'm going to string it with flat wound nylons.

52 what? There’s no 52 in the Vintage II range. You mean you put a Les Paul neck on one of these guitars? Why would you do such a thing?🤦🏼♂️

Brilliant video and oh yes, that 61 Strat… Made me consider selling body parts to get my undeserving mits on one. Sadly I’d have to sell body parts as I can’t afford or justify one. However, let’s not end on a negative note. Perhaps a lottery ticket is in order… Until then a dream guitar perhaps… *update* I had a bit of a think and did a little digging around. If you were to go to Guitar Center and purchase one of the 61 Strats it would set you back $2099.99 if you take that figure and convert it into GBP you have a price that's only £7 less than the Andertons price. Now when you consider that US sales tax is only 4 - 7% so not much to take off the export price. Now add on shipping and importation costs and 20% VAT. In short it all suggests to me that Andertons have a fantastic price. It might still be a lot of money for some people, including me, but a round of applause for Andertons please.
