Great video. I love Acoustasonic Tele. It’s never 100% what it’s modeled after but I still love the sounds. I find that each setting has its place when choosing a playing style. Some are best for gentle finger style while others shine with strumming. And to top it all off when you go to the Telecaster sound is like: “wow! That’s a Tele!” until you hear the real tele, which is cleaner and brighter. But who’d have thought you could get that close on an acoustic?! The versatility and ease of play make it my go to guitar when I just feel like playing. P.S. I’d love to see a video using electric guitar strings like Andertons did. I’m still not sure I want to try it so a video on that would be great!

Have you tried electric strings yet? You should, you’ll never go back! A good compromise is light gauge acoustic stings :)

I’ve had mine about a month and I love it. I run thru an A-B a&b switch to an Optima Air preamp for the acoustic and into effects and modeled amp for the electric… each run into separate channels on the PA. It really improves the overall sound of both. Playing gigs is much easier. Before I was carrying 2 guitars…switching between songs…keeping both in tune…the rest of the band waiting on me. And on top of all that it weighs only 3-4 pounds! I love it!

You are someone who is actually using it for what it was designed! That’s the perfect use case.

Agree with the other commentor that it would have been a better test if you were at least using pickups in the acoustics. As it is, you got what I would think of as a studio sound for the acoustics, but nothing was done to the Acoustasonic's sound to compensate, like a bit of eq tweaking. My reasoning has to do with practical uses for the instruments, and in a typical gig setting (especially with a band) it would be unusual to see that mic used with one of those guitars, as opposed to some kind of pickup/pickup system. Then, you would eq it for the best sound. Do that with all of them and we would get to hear a comparison of the guitars as tools for gigging, as opposed to a somewhat abstract "Do they sound the same" test.
@AlamoMusic5 жыл бұрын
Hey Terry, I understand the comment. The reason we chose to mic the acoustics is because the modeled sound on the acoustasonic is based upon a studio mic'd acoustic. - Chris

I have the acoustasonic Stratocaster and whatever is said about this guitar, it sounds great in all circumstances. Of course you could compare the presets sounds with the real ones but who cares? On a scene, the music is the what matters, if you play good it will sound good and no one will say it doesn’t sounds like an Taylor or a Gibson, only a good sound and your talent and you’re the one. The concept is to have a versatile good sounding instrument easy to carry anywhere you go. How you make it sound good to people is your deal. Sorry for my average English.

The acoustic guitars sound more articulate, with better harmonic presence and definition. Maybe it's not a fair test, The acoust-tele doesn't sound bad, though.

I own the acoustasonic tele so I can judge it ! It’s not a tele it doesn’t sound like a tele like my custom shop tele, it sounds like modeling acoustic sound compared to the real one but on itself the sound is cool in both way ! It’s a perfect tool for those who want to gig alone and singing or peaople that hate acoustic guitars feeling cause you have the sound of an acoustic on an electric neck … it’s a concept that you will love or hate nothing between. I love my acoustasonic tele it gives me lot of sounds and freedom… I play it on a aby and switch between my blackstar for electric sound and Fishman loud box for acoustic sound ! On gigs you should have an eq and an acoustic amplifier enough !!! Hope this can help … greetings from France 🇫🇷

Chris, if I heard right you skipped over the body sensor blend on position 3. Also it seems like the purpose of position 2 is not to blend the “electric” tone into the acoustic sound, but rather to blend a magnetic acoustic pickup into the modeled acoustic tone ala the J160e. Correct? Anyway, love your videos

I just feel that this new Fender Acoustasonic guitar will be suitable for those people who are going to reside in some outstation area for a few months. By listening to the patterns of sound produced by playing either Acoustic type version or Electric type, It can never outclass the real acoustic guitar sound or real Electric. It remains in a range so called " Inbetween". So, I have the opinion that it depends on the circumstances where you happen to reside in a particular location and the duration of stay etc. Not for daily use at home.
@toddbeeman59334 жыл бұрын
All of those acoustics sounded great. I like having the excuse to save up and buy another guitar every time I'm after a different tone/sound. Haha. As for the comparisons between the Fender and all the mic'd acoustics, I think it was done properly since the modeling was supposed to be of a mic'd real thing. I don't think it would make sense to do it any other way because of how Fender describes each acoustic-modeled tone.

@dlewtweentorla12105 жыл бұрын
Good Video. Already been said, wish a Piezo system was used to be more accurate. Also think it would be better with the same guitarist playing same thing in a before and aft type scenario. This guitar has had me really thinking about what could be possible in terms of a light, extremely comfortable and versatile gigging guitar. I have a beautiful redwood top grand auditorium that has a phenomenal pickup so the question is, do you have a guitar with one tone that does that shape/sound really well or do you have a guitar that does a bunch pretty well? It's tempting... but it's a big price tag.

Thom Goldstein I agree. The Acoustasonic sounded good, but doesn’t have the depth of the mic’d acoustics in this comparison. I’m guessing it will be the equal of those acoustics plugged in and direct. Regardless, I thought this was a very helpful video.
@paddywackarts95235 жыл бұрын
Yep. I also think that there’s a small amount of “the room” on the mic’d acoustic which helps. A little bit of room reverb on the Acoustasonic would be fairer. I think this is a fair test to do for a recording environment but for a live context comparison yes, I’d like to hear the acoustics plugged in.
