Fender American Vintage ii '66 Jazzmaster - Justifying a Dream

Congratulations, kid!! GOOD ON YOU! I cut my teeth on my brother's brand new 1960 Jazzmaster which he ran through his brand new 1960 PRO amp! I was a very blessed guy! I used to love to work out songs off the first three Ventures albums! No tabs back then! Enjoy that guy with real NITRO finish! It's a beaut! I'd like one of the red ones!! Gotta get it quick before Fender changes everything!! Cheers! I agree on that price! But it's OKAY! And it sounds great!! Or the Lord Jesus coming back and taking his church out of here! Which ain't far away!!

As a long time player and owner of some nice guitars, my sunburst 2001 Fender American Series Strat is the only guitar that has survived the odd thinning of the collection. A USA Fender is something very special, congratulations !

They really are! I was lucky enough to be able to pick up a 2012 American Vintage Reissue '62 Strat last year and I don't think I will ever be able to get rid of it either!

That's more expensive than the Original 1965 Sunburst Jazzmaster I bought in 2004. Pretty sure I paid $2500 for it. Can't believe how much has changed.

If only I had the sense to buy one then! (i was 5). The going price on originals now is in the $10,000 range. Though, if you're looking to get rid of your '65 I'll totally match what you paid for it in 2004 ;)

I still go back and forth about whether expensive guitars are worth it. I actually started out the opposite as you. When I was younger I would only buy something ridiculously expensive because I was already somehow a snob. 😂 But now 20 years later I’ve realized I can actually be pretty happy with squiers and other cheap guitars like Harley Benton. That JM does sound fantastic though. Love your playing style too.

Does the “wrong” headstock bother you on it? I’m looking at one and it has the pre fixed headstock not sure whether to go for it!

Great looking guitar, I’d love one but I can’t get on with the radius, I got one of the Pro IIs instead. Blocks and nitro, can’t beat it!!

that's understandable! oddly I'm one of the few weirdos that actually loves the 7.25" radius - i fell in love with my AVRI '62 Strat with the same radius without even thinking about it and now it just feels the most natural to play. I thought about picking up one of the American Ultras but just really didn't vibe with the compound/flatter radius. I should note that i am no shredder so this might be why my preferences are the way they are ;)

I have to 'pink' one but its not pink actually a very dark red nothing like i've seen online. perhaps a facory error?

Cracks me up that fender put the wrong headstock on the guitar. Hopefully that means the ones with the incorrect headstock will be worth more later on!🤣

I think the American Vintage II sounds amazing but from what I am hearing the QC does not match up to the price point sadly.

Mine easily matches and surpasses the quality my gorgeous 2012 AVRI Strat! Sorry that you've had bad luck with the Vintage II :(

@@adamusohadamus Same my man and I have played a first batch one and honestly I kind of liked it. It made me play differently and it started pulling songs out of me so that is good however the QC was awful. The hardware felt so half assed and cheap mainly the volume knobs and the pickup selector.

Very happy that I'm not alone in the desire for justification !! Having sat of the dream of a JM like this for years I am happy to report that I have no regrets now that it's reality :)
