Mine is loud enough to reach Mars - its ridiculous, never had it above 3 to 4 without making people's eyes bleed and all birds within 200 yards go bald - its a face melter

Try a volume pedal in the FX Loop. Also, using my Strat, it doesn't get much louder after 4, only breaks up more.

Yeah, I’ve got the 4x10 DeVille and it is even louder. 1 is off and 1.2 is so loud it empties your intestines if you stand near to the speaker. I have a TAD attenuator between the power tubes and speaker and even on the -16db setting this thing is just way to loud. I don’t know who would ever need this much volume. Hendrix at Woodstock would have turned it down to 7 I guess.

I agree about the speaker , its a little spiky (want for a better description) however .....Two years of playing this thing with the original speaker and the highs /spikiness has gone.Maybe its a case of playing it in??

Almost forgot, the bass tends to make the sound flabby at high volumes so i turn the bass down to around 2.

I've played one most weeks for about ten years. It's got a great clean sound. It's a very expansive amp, mainly due to the largish cab and open back. It's been super reliable. However I don't go above 2-2.5 at gigs and we're a reasonably loud band. I think having an amp/guitar is a trade off between lots of factors and this amp has way more good than bad points - whenever I get gas for something else I always end up sticking with it as it ticks most boxes; it sounds great, looks cool, has acceptable reverb, has two channels (which only a few Fender amps have), is very loud (even at low settings) and is well made. Of course at home you can turn it down although I struggle to get a decent sound out of the drive channel in this way. If you're mainly going to use it at home with the occasional live gig, there are more suitable Fender amps. The Blues Junior is the obvious candidate although it has a different valves so doesn't sound the same and has only one channel, just like these others - the Deluxe Reverb is a very nice amp with what purists call regard as the classic Fender clean tones but is again quite loud just for home, while the Princeton perfect for home but quite pricey. Hope all that helps.

hi there I bought this amp and hated it , I have another amp so I just played it now and again ,it looks awesome but the problem was the volume , you need a volume pedal I use mine with a boss gt100 with the boss amps modules turned off so your just hearing the fender amp and using the boss delay ect am also using the boss output level to control the volume , have to say I have grown to love it ive had a few amps but the is my personal favourite love it amazing amp best wishes

rrrrdavid1 I went with the C12k 100 watt Jensen👍🎶 Also...2 of the 3 Preamp tubes should be switched out for lower gain values. I used a 12ay7 preamp tube in valve 1 and went with a 12at7 in valve 3 which is the phase inverter. These few changes will transform your amp into a very desirable sounding fender amp👍 this will also resolve the issue with the volume knob getting too loud too quickly.
