Great playing as always. Those pickups sound incredible,!! Wow!

They’re nice but damn, they are expensive! That’s also a very cool looking guitar. The bridge pickup in my Tele died so I decided that was a good excuse to treat myself to a set of these and wow, I’m glad I did! The neck pickup alone is worth the price in my opinion. The word “articulate” comes to mind, you hear every single note in this clear, beautiful way. That piece you played at 5:14 shows that, it was beautiful!

Tim shaw hit a home run with these pickups. A bit pricey but well worth it.

I have a tele but can’t justify the $300 price tag for it just yet. However if they made these in an HSS set, I would stab them in my Strat build in a heartbeat. These things sound insane! And great playing man! Love your style!

Hey Chris have you ever tried the Dimarzio PAF PRO in the bridge and an Air Norton in the neck? I recently came across this little combo and I gotta say there pretty awesome. Anyway great video as usual!

I love Dimarzio's. Air Nortons are awesome! I've not yet tried a PAF Pro in the bridge yet.

@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear 11 ай бұрын
@@handwiredbyme It would depend greatly on the condition of the pickups and the wires. That's really only 20% (ish) down from the new cost. If they're "mint", I'd consider it. Especially if there is a return policy.

I have these in my Fender Custom Shop Tele and having issues with dialing in the best pickup height. Would you please share your settings? Thanks!
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear
@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Жыл бұрын
I set them by ear. I usually set the bridge pickup height, by listening to how the top end responds. I bring it up to about the thickness of a pair of dimes. I play chords and lead lines on a slightly hot cleanish channel and listen to the highs across the strings. If it's too brittle, I lower it until it sounds good to me. Then, I go back and forth between the bridge and neck pickup. I raise or lower the neck pickup so that it's close in volume. Then I check each pickup for volume across the strings. I'll adjust individual pole pieces as needed. That's my personal method. But, I'll try to remember to measure for you when I get home.

@@ChrisTompkins-Music-And-Gear Thank you, measurements would be most appreciated and, if not already in the sweet spot, allow me a better opportunity to dial in a good balance.
@edwardbaker-ql1qk
@edwardbaker-ql1qk Жыл бұрын
I applied your method and balance between bridge and neck seems better. If you find time to measure the pickups that would be most welcome. When you adjust, do you measure from the top of the pole pieces or the rim of the chrome surround of the pickups?

@@edwardbaker-ql1qk Like he mentioned, it’s best to do it by ear. I got the exact same advice from my local guitar tech.

@@rhettlila1855 Yes it's chrome but he said clome' that's why I said clone' thinking he pronounced it wrong ' clome' instead of clone. Didn't know if he had a copy of chrome and trying to say clone to describe it. I think he might have a minor speech problem. Watch the start of the video again' he says clome.

soulless and sterile pickups. Fender's major pickup flop. Though I consider some people might like such "modern sound".
