So I got the opportunity to try a Fender Custom Shop 1951 Relic'd Nocaster guitar. The guitar had a beautiful thick and girthy maple neck which I loved.. Additionally the pickups which I believe were either underwound vintage Nocasters or possibly Twisted teles (not certain) were absolutely amazing. The bridge pickup in particular was very warm and not ice pick like. What I didn't like about it was the price tag of $4k. For that amount one could get a terrific Nash guitar and pick up a nice amp (Bud, Fender tube etc...) and still have some change left over.

Very nice, i had one back in the day, stupidly sold it because i couldn't get used to the neck and i'm about to go buy another one today. They are very special guitars. You are a good player and good demo guy. Gracias.

I used to scoff at the price of this slab guitar until I played one. These guitars are magical! The ergonomics are excellent and the tone is delicious. 7. 25" radius with vintage frets, the neck was effortless to play.

Jeez you can play! Great demo - how do you like the Nocaster pickups compared to later models of the telecaster?

Love the woody airiness. But honestly not 20x better than your Firefly. Although judging by a phone recording and listening through phone speakers isn’t fair ;)

These were probably twisted teles, Nocaster setup is.. bridge position - only bridge with the tone knob as a blend with the neck pickup, mid position is neck only no tone, and the neck position is a .1 or something capacitor making it a real muted bass from just the neck pickup.

Depends what year was it from. They started putting the twisted pickups in them in 2012 I believe. Mine has the nocaster pickups.either way, all of them have the modern, common wiring.

Ya. He had no clue the about the wiring with different neck tones and then the blender on the tone pot for blending neck in with bridge. The bridge position clearly had some neck blended in there.lol

I got a nice one used on ebay about 14 years ago for a great price. But it had the modern pickup switching mod already which I was happy about. I have since put intonated bridge pieces and noiseless pickups. Kept all the old stuff if I ever sell it.
