I've had my fender strat squier for 20 years it's from the late 80s or early 90s,it's dis colored from being in smokey rooms but still my favorite guitar,my dad randomly brought it home for me one day,I think he always wanted to play guitar but never learned but that was the best gift ever

Definatly, what he lacks in the technical department he makes up for with his expression... you can teach scales and speed - hence why we have 1 million satriani and vai clones, expression comes from somewhere else. 1000 notes a second really doesnt sound that cool.
