Super rad man. I love this thing for real. Any guitar can be anything but this just sings as a rhythm guitar. Takes that drive so well. Super fizzy with wonderful clarity still. The more the demo went on the cooler ot statted sounding and getting away frommtour normal demo playing. Dare I say you like this thing!? Super awsome man.

I think the reason I like this guitar as much as I do is because it is... so different to every other guitar here. It does clean really well, but it gives me this ability to really have fun with fuzz and drive without all the lovely noise of single coils. Neck is killer and man, it is not a rough guitar to look at either haha

Great looking Tele with the sparkle finish. As a primarily Tele player and a big fan of Gretsch and FilterTrons I’ve been waiting for a Fender to offer this configuration in the U.S. in a non-Cabronita style. Also glad that Fender Japan went with harder-wearing Alder instead of softer Basswood.
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Жыл бұрын
I agree, I was happy to see both the Alder and the pickup selection. These pups are definitely not true to the vintage gretsch design, they are cool in their own right for sure but the rest of the guitar is so good who knows I may bite the bullet and throw a set of Lollar or Fralin style trons in it at some point

Your rhythm work is always spot on, and suits this guitar like a glove. This would do a nice substitute for a Malcolm-ish playing style, I mean instead of a Gretsch.

Hey, Jim! Fender did release a tele similar to the one you have (J. Mascis tele only in blue), but the MIJ looks much nicer. I wish the US customer didn't have to go through the back channels to get a Japanese made product. (That string problem plagues the Mike Kerr Jaguar bass. What a piece of crap! I got ripped off on that purchase.)
@AudiomoMusic
@AudiomoMusic Жыл бұрын
The mascis was close, but it had one massive dealbreaker - the relic'd neck. I don't know why Fender FMIC does this kinda stuff, especially on a NOS blue flake body it just seemed so... wrong. A shame we don't have any production Fender branded bound telecasters at all anymore outside of the Ultras. I'm with you on it being unfortunate more people don't know how/where to get these guitars, they are certainly worth the effort.
@MoogerTuber

@@AudiomoMusic But it's a replica. That's how J's guitar looks for better or for worse. I actually love the looks and the neck feel of this guitar. Of course it's subjective.

I get that for that model, it just shows Fender USA/MIM can do things like this they just choose not to. I don't want signature models, I want interesting ideas and no relicing. The FSR's Fender Japan get on a regular basis year round are things that put what we get to absolute shame from both a creative and quality standpoint. We all have our own preferences I'm just disappointed because we used to get cool FSR's on a regular basis but now they are reserved to being the entry level models and that's a different discussion all together I guess.

I think they got a lot right with this but there's definitely room for improvement... I recently have been using a tele with actual filtertron style pickups and the difference between those and these is also night and day so it would have been nice if they did put in a proper set of pickups instead of just generic humbuckers in filtetron clothing :)

I actually like it better with the non matching blue top and body. It's a modern guitar that's really it's own thing, the kind of stuff I would like the Fender custom shop to take chances and try with more exotic woods perhaps like Deviser do - instead we will just get more stupid relics.
