I went to my regular shop looking to buy a Blackstar HT5 and while trying it, i happened to pick this guitar to try it. The sound blend between both was near to perfect. Later on I was told it comes with the 51 Nocaster pups and I think that made the big difference, cause I went home with my new amp and tried it with my 2 Teles (MIJ)and the sound wasn't even close. And the roasted maple neck is also lovely and gives it a lot of character. Best Mexican Tele I ever tried by far. I enjoyed it so much I'm replacing the pups of one of the teles by the nocaster.

I built an almost same looking guitar with an mim roasted neck and an one piece Affinity body and changed the pickups with Saymour Duncan's Quarter Pound and put in better potis. Now I got a really good sounding tele that doesn't need to hide from expensive guitars.

Thanks for the vid! I’m loving my Player Strat with roasted neck and fat 50s pickups they dropped at the same time as the tele!

I was able to pick this tele model up on Reverb for $899 new. They were asking $999.99. If someone is in the market for one, I recommend sending a message to sellers and asking them if they will take $899. Chances are that at least one of them will accept the offer. Because they were willing to knock $100 off, I bought the Limited Edition Strat with the roasted maple neck and Fat 50's from them also. Again, they took $100 off the price of the Strat and I got that one for $899 too. Just food for thought for those thinking of buying a LE Players Series Strat or Tele.

I don't know if this roasted neck trend is really based on real advantages: a few months ago I purchases a Shijie strat (after watching Darrell Braun's video). The neck was perfectly straight, and the setup perfect. 3 days later, I opened the case and the neck was bowed like an arc.... Easily fixed, but I didn't expect that with a roasted neck...

I recently got a great deal on a player Tele. I have locking tuners for it, plan on getting a roasted maple neck, and still undecided on pickups. All in, I’m still right around $1100 with pricier pups included. It’s a hell of a way to make the exact guitar you want. Like you know how it sounds when you look at it.

Very nice vintage vibe to the colour. The Strat style stamped saddles are unforgivable tho. I love them on my Strats but not on a Tele. I prefer 3 saddle Tele bridges but there’s nothing wrong with 6 saddles if they’re block or cast but bent steel look stupid. I got them on a Cabronita Tele and swapped them out with blocks. That’s a very hot Tele. I’d rather buy a used HW-1 Tele than the Player for €1000! Well I did buy two already for a total of €1200 awhile back.

Maybe it's just me, but again and again I tend to think that soundwise a roasted maple fretboard is closer to rosewood than to maple (not roasted) - but I admit we are definitely on nerdish territory with this statement. Anyway - your Guitar sounds amazing imho !!!

Ha! For sure and on the super guitar nerd territory, that most likely has to do with all the moisture coming out in the roasting process ;) rock (and geek) on!

What kind of other options would you look at up to about the 2k price point for teles? I wanna do the KR thing in open g and remove the 5th string. It also seems like there's value in upgrading to a brass bridge? I could do it in parts or is there anything setup with nicer pickups or appointments that would be worth looking at? the gibson es-339 is tempting too

I've been contemplating picking up a Nashville Tele, swapping out the neck for roasted maple, and swapping a couple of the pups out too (i.e. Eric Clapton strat pup for mid for starters) This incites me, but I'm also worried it'll end up costing me as much as a high end Tele at that point anyways. I at least hope I could flip the default neck and come out even there.

Get the Body from an Affinity. Some of them are really nice one piece bodies with a good finish you can get for around 100 bucks. I built a tele with "expensive" parts but a cheep Affinity body and I couldn't tell it from a more valuable part. It doesn't devalue the quality of the guitar a bit.

Would you say the pick ups are an actual improvement? I read custom shop 51 nocaster pick ups and assume it will sound as good as any american... Or should I save 150 euro's and get the regular one with alnico 5´s?

@@ItsJustRyan89 I did also pull the trigger BUT there's 2 limited editions. This one with the CS '51 nocaster pick ups AND roasted maple neck and one with the normal maple neck and CS 51 Pu's. I got the latter. I own another ltd player tele which is stock but comes in burgundy mist CS color and I love it! It's such a good guitar, really hope this one will feel the same.
@ItsJustRyan89
@ItsJustRyan89 Жыл бұрын
@@vyvynylification am I right in saying then, you’ve gone for the standard maple neck? I’m based in the U.K. and have the same options. Why did you go unbaked, can I ask? Cheers
@vyvynylification
@vyvynylification Жыл бұрын
@@ItsJustRyan89 Correct. Only because I usually dislike the look of roasted maple. I also dislike how pale the regular maple neck looks on mexican instruments but I can live with it. There's however a ltd strat with cs fat 50s and a roasted maple neck on a sonic blue color. I adore the look of roasted maple on that. That said: I do like how the roasted neck on your guitar gives it a more used/vintage vibe due to the darker color and it is considered an upgrade. More stability in the neck from what I read.
@ItsJustRyan89
@ItsJustRyan89 Жыл бұрын
@@vyvynylification yeah, £50 more for roasted but I think it’s going to be worth the gamble. That blue strat is beautiful, I’ve just got a shell pink AO 60s, so no need for a new strat haha

Those "vintage" pickups sound weak & wanting compared to the standard "Player" pups. Sounds like some "jazz box" rather than a Tele. Also "roasted" maple necks are just a gimmick, and a rather unattractive one at that. The standard Player Teles are fine just the way they are.
