Great review and fantastic playing ! I enjoy your reviews. This bass does sound great and I was the same - Dookie was introduction to modern punk rock for me. Just can’t beat those songs :)

As always - great review! One of the best non-CS basses Fender makes. Cool pickup, and I believe unique pot configurations too.

Love your reviews, Anthony. Another good here. I’m not a big Green Day fan, but I love these 50s style basses and decided to give it a go. I’m blown away by the acoustic quality not even plugged in, but then when you plug in; WOW! Best production Pbass pickup imho. This sucker cuts through the mix like a razor blade. I own a bunch of basses and played a bunch more, but this bass is one of my favorites. And it is light AF. Best I’ve ever played out of Mexico. Pure Pbass tone. Worth every penny.

side by side with a regular p bass would be useful, but I can already tell this bass has so much funk in it

Killer sound! And best review / demo I’ve seen of it. I love my Mike bass. I have exactly what you have there but I never quite got that tone out of the box. Please could you tell me what setup you are using? Amp, EQ etc….

This is a simply fantastic bass. I have the blonde version with rosewood neck. Very solid, reliable and predictable sound thanks to the choice pick-ups. Takes a real thrashing if you throw down the hammer. Pairs perfectly with the 800 series head if you're looking for true Dirnt sound. Highly recommended.

Awesome playing Anthony. You’re a better pick player than I think you would admit!

Always appreciate your vids, this is a really cool bass. A bit of a Frankenstein bass, parts from a few designs. Thanks Anthony!

Awesome bass and great playing as always Anthony! Would you prefer this model over the Fender Vintera 50s precision bass that is modeled after a late 50s precision?

First! Enjoy your reviews here in the UK. I bought a Squier 60’s Jazz bass in Daphne Blue yesterday based on your review of it. Thanks dude 😀

Great demo! I have two of these myself, one from the road worn series in blonde with a maple neck and one from the mid 2000s, gloss black with a rosewood neck. Was this a newly received bass from a trade in/consignment or is the bass being reissued?

Hi, can anyone comment on the stability of the neck on these basses? Truss rod access is a big concern for me...

Anthony, how does this pickup compare to the Fender original '60? I hear talks that they are the same just the '59 is worn.

The pickup in the Original 60’s Pbass is a Pure Vintage 63 pickup, which from my experience is a slightly hotter pickup with more low-end frequencies. I think the CS 59 pickup is slightly less hot (around the 11k range) and has a little more treble and midrange frequencies.

@@judecarpenter2990 It’s a reference to a joe dart video. He released a bass with just a volume knob and was mocking people on the internet for saying that his bass wasn’t versatile. He responded and said “You’re not versatile!” But a real bassist would know that 😎
