It's #FenderFriday, and that time of the week again for another KZbin video! We're bringing you the last #FocusOnSound episode of the series, until we are able to safely film together again. And today's #GuitarOfTheDay is the gorgeous @Fender Player Series Mustang, finished here in a beautiful Sienna Sunburst. These superb little electrics, feature a 24" scale length, and combine many of Fender's tried-and-trusted specs, such as an alder body, and C-profile maple neck with a 9.5" radius to it. Atop this, sit 22 medium jumbo frets, and the guitar plays in the same familiar way you'd expect of a great Fender instrument.
Pickups are a pair of Mustang single-coil pickups, and these instruments produce that classic bell-like neck and biting bridge pickup tones that we've come to love from all the famous records made with Mustangs across the decades. The Player Series Mustang here takes an age-old concept, and simplifies the electronics down to a no-frills three-way toggle, volume and tone. There's a lot to love - you're getting a real Fender instrument, that's perhaps a little different to the more mainstream choices, and its available to you at a price point that's very hard to refuse!

@@doglifehub plays great light weight and holds up well. Didnt need anything done from the first time I picked it up beside tuning of course would recommend

The player has a maple neck. The Mustang 90 had p90 pups, the player has p90 and the other option shown here.

Colors and Pickguard. Thats literally all thats different since they took away the Mustang trem, and the super cool and unique Mustang/Jaguar pickup selectors. Other than the colors and pickguard the Mustang is just a Duo Sonic now and that blows

The shape is different so if you play sitting down with the guitar the Mustang and the duo sonic will feel quite different. In the duo sonic the headstock will be closer to you which may be more or less comfortable depending on your playing style and physical parameters. With the 24 inch scale length I would personally prefer the Mustang because I think the headstock would feel too close on the duo sonic.

@@garethwynn01 The scale on the Player Mustang AND Player Duo-Sonic are both 24”. Unless you’re getting a different scale in Europe?

Burst is the color for les paul or tele. Aesthetically pastel colors and aged white suit shorter mustang better.

I just ordered the new Squier Sonic Mustang. Much cheaper way to get the same look and sound.

Not really, but a good guitar for changing the pickups and than you have the sound... Squier did really good guitars in the entry lvl but you will definitely feel the difference if you spent some more money and buy the fender mustang.... But for the beginning you can't get wrong with a squier :)

I did this with I squier affinity tele... I changed the pickups because they didn't sound like tele pickups (no twang but all in all really cool for some stoner rock stuff). I put fender tex mex pickups in it and it sounds amazing and the guitar was a killa. What I try to say is... You can't compare your squier sonic series with the fender player mustang but it's a pretty good guitar and you will have a good time.
