I like how the truss rod adjustment is at the nut, not to where you have to remove the pick guard to properly adjust it. I keep trying to figure what determines where they decide to locate it by model. I know the old, vintage re issues are at the pick guard.

I don't know, my impression is that in passive mode it sounds like an active bass without eq controls and in active mode it activates the equalizer. In other words, it SOUNDS like active in both modes. It sounds good, but I still think the original Precision passive is more "natural" vibe

I like passive basses for the warm tone and not dealing with a battery. The no tone control in passive mode makes this a "pass" for me.

The 9.5"-radius fingerboard on my Player P Bass is super comfortable for me since all my guitars are also 9.5". This one is so sexy though!!!!!!!!!!!! HiMass bridge Noiseless jazz pickup nice!

I have this bass same bass with de adderio chromes. It makes an incredible vintage sound almost like an electric upright with a little extra thump.

Not really.. I've aways felt these basses are made for active, and the passive feature is just a safety net. So no I can't say I missed it, or WOULD miss it if I owned one. Thanks for watching - Anthony

Anthony, you should get fees from Fender for their sales all over the world. You are able to sell every bass you review. I bought this bass (in smoked grey) and the charvel san dimas promod jj 5 strings after viewing your reviews. I bought them in Italy, where I live... sorry.

It allows you to make your sound a bit brighter and snappier, it’s not necessary if you just want classic p, but I like the option personally.

I prefer the Player series as that was just a classic P, the way God intended. Additionally these are active (or both), and no P should be active. Did Dee Dee Ramone or Paul Simoneon play active P basses? Nope.

Different players have different needs... that's why they make different versions. I'm a purist too (I prefer passive basses), but these sounded really good, and would totally gig one! Thanks for watching - Anthony

When it comes to P Bases I guess I’m just a fan of the classic old school setup. Regardless, I’m sure the new Player Plus series is awesome. I just wish we didn’t have to pay so much to get that classic “Fender” logo on the headstock.

Its it just me or is Fender marketing totally in the Stone Age? I don't care where a product is made I just care if the company stands behind it and says its the best they can make at the time. The whole American > Japan > Mexico > Indonesia > China thing is dumb. Some iPhones are made in China and some in India and NO ONE cares. Fender should decide,(1) make the best bass possible and not worry about origin or (2) only make fenders in the USA and call everything else a Squire (even if this means some $700-1000 squires and no Fenders under $1200). I think the second choice is the modern solution that would do the most for the Fender name
