With these sorts of Fender Custom Shop vs. Fender AVRI/AO comparison/demonstrations, I'd like to see/hear the basses played and recorded with the same pickup used in both.

Both Basses are recorded,very difficult to compare tones recorded,see this all the time this is being listened to on a phone , earbuds, computer speaker, plus it appears to be being played through an Ampeg mini ,to me imho not the most desirable amplifier for comparison...personally can't hear much difference just my opinion thanks for the post

I did this at a music store and played the custom shop first - big mistake. I think I'd like to put a 55 CS Pickup in the AVRI to get that bolder tone at a better price.

Buy a Kloppmann pb 55 pickup. I installed it in my custom shop bass (I have the same p 55 model). Sounds amazing and highly recommended

Any Kloppmann pickup will be at least as good as a Fender Custom Shop one! I likewise put Kloppmanns in my AV 64 Jazz- what a difference!

Those Fender flatwounds are great are’t they? They sound like rounds at first- like in this vid, but mellow out nicely. I reckon the steel saddles (bright) vs fibre will make a difference between these basses

Your thoughts, please, on the AMPEG micro VR amp and cabinet. I use SVTs, but as you know, not all jobs requires something that big. I’m seriously considering purchasing this rig and would like to get some opinions. Thanks!
