if it's a 40 watter, it's early 70''s... they upped the wattage later in the series... also, looks like it has master vol, which was added mid 70's thereabouts...

Fender's pro reverbs are one of their best amps ever , along with the super reverb and vibrolux reverb. I have a '74 which has the greatest tone of any other Fender amp I own, they sound awesome with both Les Pauls,and Strats.

I had a Pro-Reverb in the early seventies. I got is used and it had a problem where the tube plates would glow red hot so you could only use it for a couple minutes. The problem turned out to be a non-functional winding in the multi-tap power transformer than provided the grid voltage bias for the power output tubes. The glowing plates was because there was no grid voltage to hold back the plate current. I bought a cheap transformer to provide the required grid voltage and the amp was basically restored. The clean overdrive character of the pro-reverb is virtually unrivalled in the real tube world... a beautiful sparkle that made for a gorgeous shimmer. Not for the extreme high-gain crowd who like running marshals clipping hard at the rails. The pro-reverb has a unique soft clip character that responds well to the dynamics of your playing over a very wide dynamic range... some partly due I suspect to the natural power supply "sag" and natural harmonic distortion of the audio coupling transformer to match the high impedance output stage to the intrinsically low impedance of a typical loudspeaker. I replaced the stock speakers with a couple of high-efficiency electrovoice SRO-12's (classics) so the SPL's were out the roof (as needed in large live situations) yet with the beauty of the "pro" sound. I sold it for a song to a good friend.

I believe the 74-76 models were master volume and 40-45 watts. . They weren’t push pull masters like the later ones.ive had a 78-9 twin that was 135 watts, so it makes more sense that the pros went up to 70watts at the same time period

I have a 1971 JMP 1987 50 watt and it is LOUD!!! My 67 super reverb dimed was about as loud as my Marshall on 4 but not much more. I'm going to try to run a similar rig I love this old marshall nothing like it but I need some vintage fender amp tone in my life as well.

Definitely worth it. AWESOME amp. Very jealous. You could always sell it to me. You know I have this annoying little brother who's really good a cleaning/chores...
@mikeaustin41388 жыл бұрын
My local used music store has one similar to this one for $699. They also have a PRS SE 50 for the same price. I'll say this: the Pro Reverb demos out on YT much better than does the PRS... I'd say you got a great deal. I had a '70 Twin (silverface, no master volumne) that I put JBLs in after the speakers blew. I hated it; I could not get the sustaining sound I wanted without a distortion pedal (they were very noisy back then). It could blow away a 50-watt Marshall stack for volume, though...

I’ve owned what looks like an identical model for over 25 years having bought it second hand. I know nothing about amps and don’t know what year it is (it does have the pull out on the master volume). Always sounded great but now has developed a buzz when the guitar is plugged in. Does it need new valves or a complete refurbish? Whatever….it’s still been a great amp although a tad loud for home use!

The Fender Pro Reverb is a high-end guitar amplifier made by Fender. It was in production from 1965 and was discontinued in 1982. The Pro Reverb is a 40-watt tube amplifier (at 4 ohms) and has a pair 12" speakers; however, models later than 1976 were increased to 70 watts.

Do you have the S/N or tube chart date codes for this amp? Being a Silverface, and not saying "Amp" under the "Pro Reverb" logo, I'd tend to agree with you that this is is probably a mid-seventies amp, but no newer than that, based on what I'm hearing. That thing packs a punch; has great tone; and just sparkles. Who cares what year it is or , for that matter, what brand it is. If it sounds great, that's all that matters.

I have a Pro Reverb like this, but I have never really done anything with it. I played one gig with it about a year ago. I just discovere the "push-pull" on the master volume. Does yours have this? I guess mine must have 70 watts, but it doesn't seam that loud. My "Hot Rod Deluxe" is only 40 watts, but it's just too loud. On gigs I can barely turn it up to 1. That's why I'm looking at my old Pro Reverb.

nice playing and nice amp!!! I dont know where you found this for $700 but I wish I could be as lucky, if not with this for a deluxe reverb. How loud is this amp when the volume is cranked? Annoyingly?

is it the silvertone pro reverb, the one with pull-boost and master volume? I was curious of the of the pull-boost distortion, everyone over the net seems to hate it, saying it's too grainy... but I LOVE grainy distortion and wanted to chceck it out, with no luck so far :/

I have the opportunity to pick one of these up for a song. I play a Les Paul with Lollar Imps. Would this amp represent well volume-wise alongside a 100 watt JMP at about 4-ish with V30xGreenback cab? I've found Twins to be too hard and clean at a comparable volume with the Marshall.
@kosta22414 жыл бұрын
@BCRSIX the push/pull knob on the master volume is distortion! but its not very heavy unless you turn the master volume down for the most effects. can anyone tell me what specific year this twin is from?
