Do you think it's better the 1966 series or the american porofessional? The ultra?

The JM sound is wonderful, it has its own. Modern Jazzmasters are more playable thanks to a bigger fretboard radius, 10in or more, also better to setup with the truss rod access at the nut. Great video, maybe the best I've seen on a Jazzmaster review. Thanks.

Thanks for demo. I love that you play normal clean tones so that we can hear what the guitar sounds like ... and not what it sounds like playing through 10 pedals and soundboard.

Listen, I don't even play a jazzmaster. However, even though you had some issues you sounded absolutely AMAZING. I'm extremely impressed. Listening to you, I never would have guessed there were issues. Homerun for you! Excellent demo!

My collection is sorely missing a JM. I just never pull the trigger. There's always something else I want just a little more, but I'll get there.

I don't own a Jazzmaster but I think the sound is its own, apart from any other electric guitars, very versatile and clear on many music genres. What I'm not sure is about the vibrato rocking bridge, though it's a good idea, maybe all the strings don't roll over the saddles synchronized, some may slide a tiny fraction and going out of tune. I would use the vibrato blocked as a "fixed bridge " and I guess it would add some more resonance and sustain. If anyone has a JM and knows about this please drop a comment, thanks.

Just bought one for 580$!! The sound is nothing like I’ve heard before. Such a balance of lows and middle highs.

Your solo piece really sold this Jazzmaster to me. Indeed, because of the sound. Increasing the neck angle with a subtle shim will improve playability I think. It comes closer to the 1960 Jazzmaster I owned than any other Jazzmaster I heard on KZbin, and I heard a lot of them.

It sounds amazing....you are spot on with your opinion on those pickups; they are really not like anything else out there (in a good way). I am not a big fan of the color on that particular guitar.....they look incredible in a vintage 3 tone sunburst. I have seen so many awesome reviews of Jazzmasters over the last couple of years, I may have to plug one in next time I am at Sweetwater and see how they feel.

I love JM’s but I hate that Fender still uses a butt-adjust truss rod. Who wants to take off the neck just to adjust the truss rod?
@jasonswitzer17489 ай бұрын
This model is going for “period correct” design. I hear you though. Truss rod adjustment up at the headstock is way more practical.

I dont think its that big of an inconcenience, the few times a year i do it, just capo the strings at first fret, loosen the strings and unscrew the neck

Great video, in contrast to your experiences - I ordered the vm ii and the sound/electonics were shockingly bad, sent it back...

Are we sure the pots are 250k? 1meg would be expected. Also, the 50k wheel pot value in the rhythm circuit is doing a lot of the mellowing as the tone wheel full on doesn't have the cap contributing much. As far as I know. Hardcore offset nerds might chime in, brace yourself!

I've owned many of these including vintage, they fight me for some reason.. I get the Beach Boys-surf-sound thing, just fights me for heavier stuff. When is Fender gonna drop the truss rod at the body thing.. a pain in the arse.. Thank you for reviewing it John, thank you for filming it Zac A+ review!

Great video! Thanks- one question: is the neck pocket angled back? I have the vintera 2 bass vi and it does have an angled pocket (no need for shims) thank you sir

are the pickups actual jazz master pickups with wide flat coils or just Strat-like pickups in large cover ?

Finally another review on these. I’m trying desperately to decide between this and the ultra. Hated the am pro ii, it’s hard since nobody seems to have these in stock
@jordanpratt38219 ай бұрын
Hmm ask yourself do you prefer an old school vintage type vibe, something like they would have played back in the day? Or do you prefer modern? Or just flip a coin. If it lands to get the one you really don't want you will know.

If the trem lock is used will it hold tune and intonation better? play a little less contrary?

The fact that MIM/ IN guitars are the new $1200 guitar is just so sad to me. I remember when I was in 7th grade, you could get an American standard strat for like $750-$800. Now American made guitars are 1700+ and you can’t even get a standard Les Paul sub $3,000. It’s absolutely ridiculous. I’m HOPING my Tom Delonge Starcaster will be worth the $1200 IN made price tag

I know you’ve done a review of the 50s nocaster, but do you think you guys could review the 60s tele too?
