My friend John filmed this video. He wanted to get in the cab but there already a rider and he had limited time. He did a great job but the filming did not go quite as planned. The job that corn head does is absolutely incredible!! How many acres do you think you would have to have to be able to justify even leasing this monster?
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
That is a good question. What I see here in WKY on average for a class 9 combine is that they seem to average just over 2,500 acres of corn, 1,200 acres of wheat and 2,200 acres of soybeans. That is 5,900 acres of grain through one machine per year.

BTP, How does This harvester compare to the Deere S790? It seem like its much more expensive than the Deere, so is that much better or more productive?
@bigtractorpower5 жыл бұрын
An S790 with tracks, 28.5 ft unloading auger and power fold bin is $674,000. An S790 holds 400 bu. Unloads at 3.8 bu per second and is rated at 543 hp. For $77,000 more I would say the Ideal has allot more to offer in the speed at which it harvests corn and moves it out of the field. The S790 combine is a good machine but it does not move corn like this Fendt. John Deere will introduce its new combine this week. One of the new Deere twin dories was run where I live this summer in wheat. It will be interesting to see its specs. It’s larger than an S790.

Awesome video! How does the corn head chop up the stalks? The field is looking so clean!
@jpenny5 жыл бұрын
There are "lawnmower blades" that spin underneath the row units. As the stalk material is pulled down while harvesting the ears, that trash is chopped up. Chopping corn heads do make the fields cleaner for tillage, at the expense of increased horsepower requirements, and fuel consumption. You also can't run them as close to the ground as a non-chopping head, which potentially makes picking up downed corn more difficult.

The corn was filling the combine so quickly that as fast as it was unloading it was filling up again. Rather than putting wear on the auger in and out every 2-3 min they just left it out. Gleaner accounts for 70# of AGCO’s combine sales. I highly doubt Gleaner will go away anytime soon. I would think Massey will continue as well.
