Feng Zhiqiang is great. His cultivation is of the highest level. The long, soft, round movements hide his phenominal power. This video is a fantastic resource. Xie Xie Nin.

This is a very nice Chen Taiji form as Master Feng did learn his taiji from Grandmaster Chen Fake. This is not the first version of the 48 form... and he changed it further more in his later year and put in more Hun Yuan Qigong "flavor" instead of applications.

This is an interesting exploration of softness and defensiveness.

Actually much closer to the “Xin Jia” 83 from taught by Chen Fake without repetitions And with a few Pao Tui Movement throw in like 3x Linking Canon movements And Sinking Elbow over Knee at the end. There is more QiGong in the HunYuan Sequences that came in the late 90s and 2000s. This was filmed in the 1980s For more see my article at www.StLTaiji.com

Looks like Chen Tai Chi to me, but with layers of Qigong movements inserted in between the moves, and performed in a high stance. I think this Tai Chi form would be great for people who start learning Tai Chi late in life, not to fight, not to take part in Olympic Games and compete with all kinds of stunts and agile athletic fast moves, but for health and mental relaxation. I am no fan of this style being quite conservative and a stickler for the traditional Tai Chi styles like the Chen, Yang and Sun which I am still learning to do better day by day. Having said that, it is good to see Feng Zhi Qiang doing a video recording to show how he did it since he is the inventor of this style. It's unfortunate that there isn't a video showing how Chen Wanting performed the Chen style, Yang Luchan performed the Yang style, Sun Lutang performed the Sun style and so on. To my understanding (correct me if I am wrong), the Chen and Sun styles are still performed the way it was by the creators of the style while the Yang style (and Wu as well) has been changed by successive generations and what most people practise today is actually the Yang Chengfu style which looks pretty, like a dance, but I am really curious to know how Yang Luchan performed it.

I like this Chen style Hun Yuan 48 form as I am getting old as well. The earlier version is more martial... It was called Chen Style 48 form when the first version came out in the 80s.

No, it's not right. Chen original forms were not called Taiji Quan, but Chenjia Quan. And it was 7 shorter routines. They have then then been combined into two forms, Yi Li and Er Lu. We don't know exactly what Chen Fake's form really looked like. But Feng Zhiqiang's form is one of the closest as it based off Xinjia forms. Xinjia Yi Lu and Er Lu are commonly accepted as being the closest to Chen Fake's form. But before that, we don't know what Chen Taiji looked like. For Yang, the current form is pretty far from Yang Luchan's form. The closest is probably Yang Michuan forms. Yang Cheng Fu's lineage is pretty different. Sun long form is the original as taught by Grandmaster Sun Lutang himself to his daughter and granddaughters. It's also much more recent.

@pribadi8406 You like the form for what it looks like. That's not important when one masters his chi. Everything that is important happens inside. One should forget the form when one has understood the essence. Having lower stance or bending more do not necessarily help the chi flow.

@KelGhu if the player has developed chi it IS expressed visibly as Mr Feng does

@pribadi8406 You should check out Ma Hongs videos. He's 80 in some and can do things someone a 1/4 his age would find VERY difficult and impossable if they were not conditioned. And I mean NO disrepect to Master Zhi Qiang, he is the real deal for sure, but some old guys can still be REALLY flexable.

Master Feng practiced hard with a lot lower stance and more fa jin when he was young. He is more into the Yi and Qi in here, but that's after he got the gong. Don't skip the basic training and just jump to the high comfortable stance with the qi. It won't work!

Fengs base comes from xinyi liu he. Its integral. If you never practiced xinyi liu he you will never understand the fajin

Feng also recomended in an interview to not have to low of a stance. He said it can cause knees problems. Apprently chen feke never had him practice the form as low as him. It depends on the person. Wide and low stances can also make it harder to release power. You learn that in xinyi liu he
